Got all our pts. figured out for upcoming trips...we hope

We are going home 1st time soon on 80 of our 220 pts. Currently we are planning for a cruise in Nov. 03 using remaining banked pts., using all of 03 pts. and borrowing from 04 use yr.

All that said, we should have enough pts left to make a trip to VWL in Dec. 04 with all 94 pts that will be left in 04 use yr.

I know that most on these boards frown on cruising on pts. but we really have to go next yr. Such short planning doesnt leave enough time to make extra $$ to go on cruise, but DWs mom was planning with her deceased father to cruise in 04 to celebrate his retirement. He passed at 51 with Lou Gehrigs disease and it is very important for her to take this trip.

Wondered how many of yall have got pts. figured that close and also any advice on crusing with pts. since that is the way we have to go at this point. By the way we will be paying cash for DD and DS.

You may want to consider renting your points, and using the cash to pay for your cruise.

I know that a lot of people recommend renting points and then purchasing the cruise in cash, but we are using points for our cruise in May. We decided that renting was a hassle and never a sure thing. Plus we have figured that our points are worth just a bit over $6 each when we figured the purchase price, financing, and maintenance. This means that our 3 night cruise in a catagory 6 for two will cost us right at $1350. That would be $675 a person, which was less than what DCL quoted us for the same cruise. So we know that renting points might give us a better deal, but we feel that we are still getting our money's worth cruising on points.

But to answer your question, we rarely have our trips figured to much in advance. I really have no idea what we will do with our points in 2004. But we do use every last one of them each year.

I always have agout 3 years worth of points allocated at any given time.

We have our points figured out for a long time..... The big point useage coming in June or July of 2004 where we will be getting 20 plus rooms for a huge get together....... that will eat up all our 2004 points and 1/2 of our 2003 points.. AKA over 1200 points! LOL But soooooo worth it...... dont have much planned after that yet....... too far away!
