Unfortunately the voicemail didn't really say what they wanted.

I received the call at 8:03 last night. It asked that I call them back at 407-354-2731, and asked me to "have my reservation number when I leave a message." So they are expecting me to call back, and leave a message, with my reservation number, saying that I called them back? I got the message at 8:30, called back immediately, and as expected from the message they left me, got a voicemail.

So I called 407-WDW-Dine. All the CM on the line could tell me was that my reservation looked fine and didn't seem to have any problems. She let me speak to a supervisor who at least was able to confirm that the number I was left on my voicemail was a legitimate Disney phone number, but she couldn't say what the call could have been about. She seemed as honestly confused as me.

So... anyone ever get a call like this? Any clue what the call might have been about?

No idea but please keep us posted. I am looking forward to hearing why they called.

I know people were getting calls saying that they over booked some places and had to change their ressies to somewhere else.:confused3

The restaurant may be trying to reach you. I know when I worked at the Brown Derby we would have to call guests because of mistakes made with their reservations. Usually a concierge or someone at Central Reservations trying to book them for the Fantasmic package without actually booking the package.

Sorry folks just putting Fantasmic in the comments doesn't get you a pass.

I was wondering if it wasn't October 29 because there is a food & wine festival event there on that date. But that was probably planned a good ways ahead of time.

Sometimes, events or private parties take over restaurants for a night or a portion thereof, and they have to cancel already made reservations. You should call the number they gave you, in case they are trying to notify you that the restaurant won't be accessible that night.

I did call the number that night, like I said. It was not the restaurant. The voicemail was something like "Disney outgoing sales" (it wasn't as clear as it could be).

Also we don't have any celebrations attaches to our reaervations.

Ok, yeap... private event! This is so frustrating as California Grill at that time and date was my real victory. It was the only thing I felt like I HAD to have when I made our ADRs. Last year I wasn't able to get this reservation when I called 150 days out (made the decision to go a little later than normal) and THIS year we get shoved aside for a private event. Of course they asked if we would like to go the night before or the night after... no, we wouldn't because we'll be in Epcot the night before, DHS the night after. THAT night we were going because it's our MVMCP night.

I don't understand why WDW Dine weren't able to tell me about this when I called to inquire last night. I'm so upset right now.

to the OP... did you ask for any "compensation?" when this happened to us and the renovations at teppan edo ran over the estimated time frame, they offered us an adr at another restaurant (we went w/san angel... we were disappointed) as well as private viewing for illuminations on the terrace at rose/crown pub... it was a great place to see illuminations!

maybe you could ask for access to the fireworks viewing and dine over at the GF that night instead?

Just happened to us yesterday. The Cali Grill is closed for a private party on 12/1. The number you are referring to is outside sales #. Their sole responsibility is to correct and fix all major mess ups with ressies behind the scenes. My DH called and left a message last night and they just called us back a couple of hours ago. The lady that called back was very sorry for the inconvience and went out of her way to accommodate us elsewhere. Even if it was not available on Disney's dining site. My DH did what you did and called the dining line and they advised him also there was nothing wrong with the ADR. The reason being the Disney dining number is an outside firm that does not get all inside information. The people you will be speaking with are Disney Cast Members with inside info. The Cali Grill ADR won't be deleted out of the system for a few weeks. This is to allow existing ressies to change with priority without starting over fresh. People with existing ADRs at the CG that are being canceled will have priority.

They just called me for the same thing - 12/1 private party. The woman patiently waited while I figured out what to swap around given our touring plans, and then she quickly swapped my 12/1 and 12/3 ADRs -- including a Neverland Club ressie that also needed to move. She must be able to override the "public" system -- no way could a normal human being have gotten a 6 person ADR at CG on 12/3 at the same exact time as I had on 12/1.

I was skeptical when she called, but I wound up pretty pleased. I'm happy that I was able to move my plans around without disrupting our schedule.

Yeah, my problem when she called back was that I was out at the time and didn't have any of my planning information with me. And I was a little too ticked at the moment to really logically think through my options. I called back a little while ago after I got home and figured out what I wanted to do but just got voicemail again. Hopefully they call back soon and I can get this straightened out.

Good luck to you! I was audibly annoyed at first because I know how hard CG ADRs are to get...and because I was unsure what in our touring plans could move, etc. But if it gives you any hope, the woman I talked to kept saying "try me - we're inconveniencing you, so we'll get it to work..."

I know that Poohsfan1 had a CA Grill 2 hours earlier than mine. So far I have not received a phone call. What times were the other ADRs? I'm now dreading getting the call.:scared: And our number on our ADRs is my DHs cell phone-not the best way to reach me - the planner.

We had 5:35 - I always try for as early as I can that night so we can make it to MVMCP right around official start time.

I think as long as patrons being bumped are reasonable, that Disney will always find an amenable alternative.
