The letter starts out by saying their son is hosting a sleepover this weekend for 10 boys (15 year olds ). It goes on to say that their house is near apartment complexes that house a large number of college students who party on the weekends. The parents are giving the kids a curfew of 11 pm (I guess the kids can do what they want till then????) Then the letter states that if anyone is unaccounted for they'll call us:eek: I'm not surprised my DS didn't tell me about this party. What do you think of the letter I received?

I would say DS stays home that night. The letter sounds like the parents are not attempting to take any responsibility of supervising the boys.

"If anyone is unaccounted for"!!!?? What the heck is that?

I would not let my son go to THAT sleepover.

JMO.

uh nope my ds wouldnt be going thats for sure!

I wasnt aware that 15 year old boys still had sleepovers?

My Ds is 15 and he wouldn't be going. Sounds like they plan on the boys going over there and not getting back by curfew

Just mentioned this letter to DS. Got the whole" I'm going , and that's final" speech from him. love starting weekends with a fight over limits. Still don't know what these parents were thinking....

If that were my kid he would not be going! Not a chance

So the parents are letting the boys wander over to the college apartments and party? Yeah, I don't think so! I'd call them up and tell them why my son wouldn't be going.

Nope.

Now, I'm sure your son is a wonderful kid, but 15 year old boys, with raging hormones, at what sounds like an UNsupervised party, with college students nearby is trouble just waiting to happen.

JMHO.

I suppose I'm out of the teenager at home loop these days, but it sounds as though this people are warning the kids that the curfew is going to be enforced and they had better plan on being there at 11 or their parents will be called. I think they are being careful, perhaps.

I thought the same thing as nativetxn.

I'd call the parents myself and ask what's up? I really think they're trying to lay down the law - not the other way.

I definatly agree....call these parents and then make your decision. Maybe they meant it exactly like Katholyn said. Maybe they let their son party...but I'm sure you can get the gist of it if you talk to them in person. At 15 there is no way J.C. will be partying with college students. Do you know this child? What do you think of him? Again I would definatly call the parents.

My first thought was also that the parents were making sure you knew you could expect a call if the kids were back in time for curfew, maybe making you more comfortable. At 15 I know I was okay to make some decisions on my own but not all, but with no doubts the fact my parents knew they would be called if I wasn't back in time for curfew... I WOULD BE BACK at curfew.

I would have to agree with those who suggest you call the parents who are hosting this party and find out exactly what the scoop is. I would want to know who is invited, what kind of supervision, etc. Maybe it isn't as bad as it sounds at first hearing.

Oh, and I have a 15 yo son and, yeah, they still have sleep overs.
