Hey everyone, I got the 35%/25% off room rates PIN today, but in my maiden name. All the PIN's I get tend to come in with that name. I have checked my account online, and everything's under my new information. I have been married for 4 years now, so it's not like they're behind on updating their accounts. Why is this still happening? Any ideas?

You may have 2 accounts somehow. I'd call and have them link them.

This happened to me after I got married with Cove Haven resorts in the Poconos. They were able to combine the 2 into my married name no problem.

You should still be able to use that pin no problem. A pin for my brother-in-law came to our address and two CMs said we were free to use it (even though he isn't coming) since it was sent to our address. :thumbsup2

I had planned a trip a while back for my family, parents, sisters family and brothers family. All the correspondence came through me. I now get pins in eveyones name (except mine of course). Depending on the agent, some will let you use them. I would call in and see if I could use it, if they say no, I call back. You need to get the "right" agent.

Are emails with PINs clearly marked as such? Wow, that probably sounded like a dumb question! What I mean is there something in the heading that would let you know you are receiving a discount or is it pretty prominent on the email? Did you need to click on something to see your PIN or was it clearly stated on there? I have never received one and want to be sure I'm not missing it :)

I did try the first time I got it, but that was a couple of years ago, and since I got a big "NO" I figured I wouldn't try anymore. Maybe I'll give it a go. And Yummie55, you will know if you get one....it'll describe the discount you get, and at the bottom of the e-mail you should see your PIN.

I booked 3 different trips when I got PIN's in my maiden name. The person in the PIN offer is me....just not with my updated last name. The last time I booked a trip this way, the CM did change the file or combine the files so of course now I don't get PIN's anymore......

They usually come from "disney destinations" and they are personalized and start off with something like " Hello Jones Family"

Wow...I thought I was the only one who had this problem. Starting booking a trip with a travel agent...put down a deposit...and bang...the email arrives offering us 35% off. Problem is, its in my maiden name (we book the last time when we were dating.) Travel agent won't help us because of the name problem says it's non transferable....but I'm Me!!!

Then there's the question of "free dining"....apparently its not available with the pin code.

Can't wait to get to Disney World to have some fun....the booking part, however, is anything but!

Yikes

Oh, so frustrating!!! You should be able to call Disney yourself if you want to use your PIN. Of course you won't get the free dining. But I'd check and see if using the PIN and then paying for dining separately will be more cost-effective...might as well give it a try!

A lot of women go by their maiden names even after they are married. When you call, try saying your name "first name, maiden name, married name." Legally, that is how my name is structured. Sometimes people use just my first and maiden name. Sometimes people use just my first and married name. Either way, I'm still the same person, same address.

I used PINs twice that came in my former married name. The first time, I called and the first CM I talked to said I couldn't use it. I called back later in the evening and got another CM who told me it was no problem. Of course, the first CM also told me I couldn't add tickets and the dining plan to make a package and still get the room discount, and the second CM was able to do that with no problem.

The second time I tried to use a PIN with my former name, I was using a travel agent. He was having difficulty and had to escalate it to someone in guest services. It turns out the issue wasn't with my name, but with the fact that Disney Destinations had sent out a slew of PINs by email and hadn't correctly loaded the PINs into the system. A lot of people here on the DIS were reporting having problems using PINs they'd received that week. The problem was rectified within a day and I was allowed to use the PIN.

My advice is if one CM tells you you can't use it, hang up and call back.

I get PINS all the time, and i wish i could use them. But they are never for me. They are always for the Brisbois family:confused:

Wish I knew how to fix it so i could get my own PIN:headache:
