I just got a Kodak v530 from Costco. It has 6.1 megapixels and takes really good photos. I figured it would be a good camera to take to DW. The Costco guy talked me into it :smooth: I am looking to get a new sony camera that gets released on June 9th that has 7.2 megapixels and has a 3 inch lcd screen. It looks like a good camera. My neighbor has the dsc h1 and it takes great pictures, and I figured this one would take just as good pictures.

You listened to the Costco guy about camera? Must be in the US right? Because the Costco camera guys in Canada knows absolutely nothing about camera. ;)

ONe thing that many manufacturers need to learn from Kodak at this price range: use metal body, don't use plastic!

Picture quality, for the price, is also acceptable.

That's cute! If you don't mind, how much did you pay for it at costco? I just got a Digital Rebel for my birthday a few months ago, but would like a better little camera for parties, etc. that I don't really feel comfortable taking the better camera to.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh... what's the point of having a real camera if you're not comfortable using it in certain situations? It's a waste of money.

I'll answer this. Sometimes you (well obviously not you) just want a small camera to put in your pocket and go.

I have an S2IS so not quite a dSLR but I do sometimes feel the need for an ultra compact. I'm not lugging my S2IS out to the bars for a night on the town with the girls, it is too big, so I certainly wouldn't take a dSLR. In those situations carrying a purse it too much for me.

I know my DH's work brings us to a lot of charity events. I know that bringing a dSLR (or other "large" camera) would definately be frowned upon. But sometimes I'd like a photo of 'the group' all fancied up so an ultra compact that you could silp into an evening bag would be fine.

In my area there are places that don't allow 'professional' camera equipment so you can't even enter with a dSLR. That is one reason I chose the S2IS over a dSLR.

There are situations for both. Sometimes I just want a snapshot of my friends and I don't care about composition, noise, vignetting, etc etc.

IfI take it to a party and beer gets spilled over it, or I forget it somewhere because I'm drunk....it's much easier (and safer) to have a P/S for those "college moments".

ETA: most of my friends wouldn't know what to do with a SLR sober, nevermind intoxicated...so if I asked someone to take a picture, there's the possibility of the braking or dropping the camera, as well as not knowing how to use it

I paid $269.99 for my new camera at Costco. It's very tiny and takes great pictures. I post some pictures I took with it but I don't know how :confused3 . I love it because it fits in my pocket. That's the exact reason why I got it. I'll use it for when I don't feel like lugging around a camera bag for my Sony DSCh5. For example, out to dinner.

If you're looking for a pocket camera, that camera is perfect for you. If you're looking for better camera control, features, anti-shake, more zoom and better picture quality, add $30 more and you'll get a Canon S2 IS.

(Canon should really give me a comission or at least a free T-shirt for every S2 IS sold, then I'll have a suitcase full of black Canon T shirts -- which I need for every photo session) :)

Jilly, the easiest is to set up an account, (free) at www.photobucket.com. Upload your pictures there. Then, under each picture, you will several lines of code. You want to copy the img code and then copy here.

To post pictures, you need a few more posts, and the quickest, easiest way to bulk up quickly on post count is to do a few happy's on the birthday board. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57
