We've been sending letters and packages to our Marine from operation military support since mid-March. We haven't heard from him yet, but today got a wonderful letter from another Marine. He explained that our guy, Greg, showed him the postcard we sent in one of the packages and this new guy, Greg2 ;) asked if he could write. Greg 1 said sure...and so we get this letter!!

It was just wonderful hearing from somebody...anybody...to let me know that the packages are indeed arriving. The first package we sent was sent on March 24th and this letter was dated April 5th. Postmarked the 15th and got to us on the 26th.

So it looks like I've got two adoptees over there now! :) woo hoo!! Of course they'll confuse me both being Greg's! :)

This was a very cool thing for our family to do to show our support and it just became 100% more cool!

God bless,

My sister (Mrs. Grumpy) did too. Her soldier was deep in Iraq at the time her package arrived, so they gave it to another soldier in his unit. She was thrilled to get the letter. She has sent several packages, and she hopes that some will still make it to her original soldier.

I sure hope they aren't giving Titus' boxes away because he is deep in Iraq right now. Ashli just sent him some fairly expensive goggles that he asked for (scott goggles, approx. $30) and in another box she sent a mag light and some accessories plus her usually bounty of snacks and magazines in both boxes. She sent them a while back and last she heard he still hadn't received them (communication isn't real good right now, he's on the move a lot and the email goes down frequently at the bases he's been to).

Keli- As a matter of fact, her soldier is a member of the 50th Med Co (Air Ambulance), which is also a unit (I think that is the correct word) of the 101st ABN DIV. She had written a note that if her soldier had been redeployed, then they could give it to someone else. Titus will probably get all of his packages, but maybe not right away. I heard that some packages would stay in storage until the soldiers returned to their base camps in Kuwait.

I sure hope Titus still has friends to share goodies with. I had all kinds of fun shopping and Mailed 2 big boxes with chips, cookies, breakfast bars, fruit cups......... more magazines : )

I am glad they are getting some of the stuff. I did mail a phone card with a note to call his family and Ashli when he could.

I know this is gonna sound stuid but how do u adopt a soidier and does it coast anything i am 14 and my dsad is over there in Iraq and just wanted to send packages and letters to a soldier that i could adopt. thank you if you can tell me.

That is so neat, OhioMinnie. Isn't it wonderful to get a letter from a soldier/marine?

By the way, you have some very nice clipart, I really like that purple one :teeth:
