Got a Disney box in mail. Whats the point?

Yesterday I opened my mailbox to find a white box with one of the Incredibles on the front. The box was just a little larger than a boxed dvd set. After opening it, I find a gray box with a flip top lid. On the lid is a logo of a mickey head with a circle around it. Inside was a booklet telling me about my upcoming vacation. Like, thats it. Just a booklet detailing rides and restaurants. What is even the point of this? Could they not have just sent me the info in an email or just mailed the booklet by itself?

When ticket prices and everything else is increasing I just dont see the justification for the packaging this silly little book came in. I honestly thought i might have been our magic bands but it was just a nifty box for a paper booklet. This is stupidly insane and I just dont get it. I cant imagine the cost for these things when done on a large scale.

Anyone else get this and wonder...what the heck?

Meh. It's Disney trying to add a little panache to the experience of booking your trip. Sure it costs a little. They could bring the cost of park tickets down a dollar it they do away with them I suppose. ;)

I can appreciate the magic touches but this was like a build up to an empty box. The box is so elegant and literally nothing was inside it but a pamphlet. It just didnt make sense to me.

We received one too. No thumb drive. I found it a bit much for a booklet too but will give it too my son to put some trinkets in.

I got mine and I completely agree.
Really disappointing.

Almost like they take guests to be idiots.

Imagine at Christmas or on a birthday getting a big gift-wrapped present.
Then opening it up to discover an empty box.

I got one too, though it didn't come in a fancy box but I got the personalized booklet. My kids love looking through it. It's a nice touch if you ask me, it's things like this that give the whole trip that extra dose of special.

I figure they are just trying to use up the boxes they had made when they thought the thumbdrives were a great idea. Hey, at least now we can use or recycle them; I like them and use them. So that's 3 so far that haven't been tossed.

I actually enjoyed it very much that I've kept it. It builds up the excitement and in my opinion it really helps a lot of families get a bit more informed on what to expect. Yes, everyone should do some research on any vacation you're paying for, but as from the many posts evident on these boards, unfortunately many people don't and it's not like everyone wants to be a disboard member :duck:
I loved the booklets especially because I'm planning a trip for other families to join us. They need condensed info and the booklets saved me time and effort on having to get that said info.
And the coolest touch to me was how they have our name in it in little spots AND the fact that I have no kids, they only put couples throughout the booklet!!

TLDR: I think they're awesome and love the idea of them sending them out:love:

It was cool with the flash drive (imo). But after they decided not to mail out the flash drive any more they should just EMAIL people a 'Welcome aboard' and a link to a website with what was on the flash drive and in the booklet. When there was a flash drive it was sort of a cool "we wrapped this up for you."

I've the boxes with thumb drive; without and just a booklet. Personally, I'm happy to see them--a physical reminder of my upcoming vacation. Same as the "Thank you for visiting" card after the trip. I think it's quite nice.

Of course I understand it may ruin the surprise for some family which is not good at all. In my cases, I'm usually the one who ruin the surprise. Can't keep the fun of planning to myself. LOL

I actually like it. Even though you could get all the info in email. I like the page where you key dates our listed (like ADR's, FP+, when final payment due). It's a helpful little reminder if you don't check email as often.

Mine like that came with a thumb drive. I later modified the trip and got another book in a Mickey envelope.

Got our MVMCP in a plain boring white envelope -- and a meaningless brochure in a fancy box. Go figure.

I got the same thing two weeks ago and wondered why Disney bothered. Nothing but garbage that we all end up paying for in increased costs.
