Got a call from the executive offices of WDW

I'm interpreting it different -

PF has undergone several character changes

Thus H&V is likely to also.

That's right! Playhouse Disney does not have a 10-year contract at H&V. The important thing is that it's open for breakfast and lunch again. They needed something new to go with their "Magical Beginnings" push, and the answer just popped out of a slot. But if the character meals don't fill, they will be looking for a change.

My worry about the Playhouse Disney Characters at H&V is that they closed this restaurant for breakfast before because they were not busy enough and I really don't believe that Playhouse Disney Characters are going to bring in mass amounts of people so will they change the characters or will they just close the restaurant again. Didn't anyone at Disney watch the movie? "If you build it they will come" Well it this case if you put the right characters in there, they will come!

Personally I would be MAD if they changed the dinner, as we booked 1900 PF so my DD4 could see Cinderella and Prince Charming ! She LOVED him last time. HOWEVER a new breakfast would be good, as I always think the Bfast is a "mixture" of characters. Why is Pooh there AND CP?

Now a VILLIANs meal, even for the month of Oct would be FAB!!!

Or Power rangers, Buzz or anything for big boys... my Dh would LOVE Star wars! :)

Most people from Uk with boys go to Universal, ( spider man and Scooby)so Disney is loosing alot of $s. !!!!!

The Villians meal cant be hard to arrnge they have the characters in the park, i would love Cruella, Hook, Malificent.

I can't imagine 1900 switching to Pixar. It makes no sense whatsoever. I could see fairies going there, but Tink is the most popular and I doubt they'll ever have her wandering around since she's supposed to be a pixie.

I think in time Disney will have a boys character meal. They know it's a popular market, but they need time to come up with something since Pixar is out for now. And I don't think that Playhouse will last very long. It really only appeals to very young children and their parents. Any older siblings won't care for that at all, but they probably won't mind Mickey, Princesses, etc. I'm 30 and I enjoyed the 3 character meals we had last week at LTT, 1900, and Chef Mickey's.

Don't even tell me that 1900 Park Fare dinner is going to change. I have it booked for DD's 3rd birthday in September. She is absolutely in love with Cinderella. I'm for a new character meal as well as the next guy, since I also have an 8 yo DS, but they better keep Cinderella there also.
I agree with you....I have an ADR for Sept at 1900 Park Fare and my DD is so looking forward to eating with the princess there.

I think the thought the Park Fare characters change often means that the characters could also change at H & V. Also, the setting in Park Fare needs to be taken into consideration. It is not a very "male/boy" enviroment. It is decorated very softly. The Pixar or any male characters would look out of place. :confused3

Has anyone had the breakfast at 1900 Park Fare? I might book this just in case. We had dinner there once and it was ok. Not great, but good. Staff was efficient & friendly.

Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare has been our all time favorite character meal. We have done 8 in the past 4 months, and this one by far is on the top of the list! Characters were great and attentive, the buffet was good, and our server and other staff were fabulous!

Thanks for that information. :goodvibes I have gone ahead and booked it.

I hope they don't change the dinner. I plan to go in November with my little nieces and young nephew......my two sons will be there too but I think they will have a good time anyway.

A Pixar Character Meal would be FABULOUS !!
I told the 4 kids in our group about it and even us adults were thrilled !!
Now we are all quite disappointed....
I too will send along a letter......
Our day to make our 180+10 ADR's is this Monday May 15th, at the crack of dawn !! Wish I had more information on the Pixar Meals, or 1900 Park Fare Changes !! :confused3 :rolleyes2 :tilt:

OK, this just doesn't make much sense. The OP writes to Disney about her disapointment that there isn't a heros breakfast for the boys. Disney calls her, and knowing that she has boys looking for action heros, hints at changes at 1900 Park Fare Breakfast. The rumor going around is they're going to make it a fairies breakfast. I have boys, and while I haven't run it by them, I feel confident in saying that a fairies breakfast isn't going to do it for them. They would go for the power rangers, woody, the green army men, Dash etc... but no fairies. Fairies are in the same catagory as princesses, kissy girls, and cooties.
While I think a villians meal would be cool, I think it would be in the same catagory as the Playhouse Disney in that it would have a limited audience. The "scare" factor would wipe out many of the families with little kids. Being that they both have a limited audience maybe they could do a mixed breakfast at H&V - 4 days a week with playhouse Disney and 3 days a week with villians. That way they will have a chance to draw from 2 complete different pools of people.

A Pixar meal would be ideal! I'd love to see The Incredibles, Bug's Life, Toy Story and Monsters Inc. characters at a meal. I know that Sulley and Buzz might be big for walking around a restaurant, but maybe the larger characters can be in the greeting/photo area?

If the Pixar meal isn't viable because of a contract, then Disney could still do a boy themed meal with other characters. How about Peter Pan, Smee, and Hook? Or a Heroes meal with Hercules, Tarzan and Aladdin? They could mix in other characters, like Timon, Terk, etc. A Villians Meal would be fun, too.

I'd also love a Fairies meal because dd is among Tink's biggest fans, but I have qualms about a life-sized Tink. She's supposed to be a fairy. :tink:

I also took the CMs comment to mean that the characters at H&V could change as often as 1900 Park Faire. Pixar characters would fit in much better at MGM than in the fancy, girlie (colors anyway) atmosphere of the GF.

I got the same call. Of course, by the tiem they called, I had already booked the Jojo breakfast since DS4 said he wanted to try it. :)

They didn't say anything about anything changing to me but I did say that we would love to see a Toy Story meal, and she said that they have had a lot of feedback about that.

Here's hoping they change the H&V but how soon after starting would they change it? It must be a lot of work to get it all set up. I dont' see them changing it right away unless it's a total bust money-wise. :confused3

Beth :)

DS who will be 11 on our next trip has No interest in the new MGM character meal. I agree that anyone over 6 won't be thrilled with those characters. I wish they would bring back the Villian Dinner. That was our favorite character meal of ALL TIME! :thumbsup2

We had breakfast at 1900 PF in october and the characters were Mary Poppins in the lobby, Alice, Mad Hatter, and Tigger in the dining room. Rather an odd mix. Mad Hatter was so much fun, though!

I can see them changing the characters at the PF breakfast again just because it was kind of a hodge podge.

We are hugely disappointed in the H&V breakfast, but we'll get over it. We have ADRs for a ton of TS meals and we don't need another one. It's not like we will go offsite for breakfast now - we just won't eat at H&V.

I would think Disney would catch on to the fact that those of us who have older kids would generate a LOT of profit for them if there was an appropriate character meal. DS will be 10 later this year. HELLO? They would charge him as an ADULT! So instead they come up with a meal where there will be tons of little ones eating for free, or paying the kids price at most. DOH!

I also was very disappointed with the announcement of the character meal. AND I even have a one year old. I would rather spend my money on a character meal that DH, DD and I all could enjoy and she already loves Pixar characters.

But you know there is one character meal demographic market Disney is missing the mark with. How about one that really appeals to adults or more to the point adult ladies. I want a Jack Sparrow character meal!!!! It would definitely cover one for the young men/boys out there to meet their swashbuckling hero and the Moms would enjoy it too!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: pirate:
