Suzy called to inform us that they have a promo starting today with the purchase of 130 points you recieve 2 yes that is correct 2 AP's redeemable at any time. I am just waiting to see if this is for any property or just SSR. She was saying that it isn't even in the system yet it was a not she was passed.

Is this for add-ons? I thought you had to purchase a minimum of 150 points through DVC to begin with.

That would really irk me as I just joined 2 weeks ago! I would also question the 130 point minimum (unless this applies only to add-ons)

I hope this isn't the great AP "discount" that everyone is wondering about

That's what you call a Disney discount - spend over $11,000 so you can save $700

I think this is a great offering, too bad its not for everyone in your immediate family and only 2 passes.

Just spoke about the same deal with my guide Randy.

This is a members only special for add ons only of 130 pts or more.

This is for saratoga, and includes the current $5 off price of $90 per point.

You also have the option to take a week in a condo any where that is available through interval international. I think within the next year .

I just got off the phone with my guide, I wanted to find out, since I added on last week at BWV. It is only for SSR and for current members only. You do have to add on at least 130 points, and you still get all current incentives. You get a choice of 2 adult AP's or a week in a 2 bedroom through Interval International.

Assuming you need a new AP and not a renewal, this would bring the price/pt down to $83.79.

Buying a 130 pt. contract at $74 via resale with approximately $500 in closing fees would be a cost of $77.85/pt resale.

Neither figure includes maintenance fees.

So for approximately $6/pt (give or take..) you get Disney financing, no RoFR worries, and an extra 12 years on this incentive vs. buying resale.

Depends on your priorities if this is worth it.

the good old days when you got 10 years of passes (OKW, I believe)....

More like they were never as brisk as many were led to believe.

I was told that it is towards the end of the year and they want to make more sales.

Also, the II week is very interesting. I was told that there will not be a $75 fee to book this, and the week is for a 2-br expiring on 3/1/06. The risk if you don't find a match for the exchange. This excludes all major holidays. But if you can find a peak season 2-br, it would require 270 pts normally and you get this one as an incentive. I wonder what type of exchanges these can bring in. Never know what DVC uses to get II exchanges.

My guess is that they are trying to push for SSR to sell faster so that they can have a pre-sale for the Contemporary Resort area with SSR mostly sold. Otherwise, I think it would be hard to compete.

Our guide today called and offered us the same offer. We were on the waiting list for more BW points and he called to tell us that they were available but asked us if we wanted to do this instead. My husband is leaning toward the SSR deal.

My guess is this is for a "bonus week" which will be far more restrictive than just excluding major holidays. The II offering is at best, a "pig in a poke".

There is an old saying "don't leave money on the table.

If they were doing great there would not be an incentive. You wouldn't need one. And believe me Disney won't leave money on the table unless they had to.

Maybe they overpriced and if so it would look bad to role them back. An incentive is a back door role back.

Like someone else mentioned the new price would now be 83.79 instead of 95.00, a decrease in price of 11.8 percent. That's a good back door role back.

This is just a theory, so disagree if you wish.

A couple of months ago DVC started exclusively selling points in Phase 2 (opening March '05) to new members. At the same time, they kept an inventory of points in Phase 1 (available for use now) to be sold as add-ons to existing members.

With the recent re-emphasis placed on selling points at the older resorts, it's likely that they are now projecting a slow-down in SSR add-on sales to existing members. This promotion may be designed to help accellerate sales of the Phase 1 inventory DVC is currently sitting on.

It could also serve as an experiment to further gauge the appeal of APs to DVC members. It will be interesting to see how long the promotion lasts...
