We are a family of 2 adults and 1 child aged 12 years. We are in the AKL for 2 nights and we have a budget of $150 per day for breakfast and diner. Can anyone make some suggestions to either eat in one of the hotels one night and eat out of Disney another night?

We will have a car until the afternoon of the 2nd day.

Thank you for you input.

My suggestion would to skip the buffets at Disney, they are ridiculously price. your 12 year old would be charged the adult price and probably won't eat anywhere near the amount they charge.

Let's see we enjoy the plaza at MK. Nice food but it has a limited menu.

If you have a car, personally I would do Ihop or perkins for breakfast (my family could in no way live off of granola bars or yogurt for bfast). I hope is 2 miles from dtd an easy 5 minute drive. last august we went there, they had the 5 dollar breakfast 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage deal. all four of us had a hot delicious breakfast for $35 bucks including tips and tax and juice

Look up the Orlando Ale House. They are located near to the parks, maybe a 5-10 minute drive. It is a very large sports-type bar with excellent and inexpensive food.

We got the recommendation from a bartender/cast member about 5 years ago and have become fans.

The menu is online and they always have good specials. Also if you are missing any sporting events at home, yes even UK soccer, you can request that they put the game on one of the multiple TV's. If we are in Disney during Hockey season, I know my husband will be watching his games in one of their booths.

That's breakfast sorted!

Thank you.

OMG - The menu is huge!

Dinner sorted too!

Thank you both!

I always travel with a soft sided cooler. We keep drinks in the room, a little milk and dinner leftovers for late night snaks. I pack a box of cereal and some of those solo plastic bowls, voila! breakfast. I do this because I hate to waste my time in restaurants when I'm doing WDW. Those who want to eat, do it while we are getting ready for the day. It saves money too.

From AKL you are a stones throw to Miller's Ale House. (You can just pop out onto 192 from Sherberth Rd.) It's our favorite! If you will be there on a Tuesday, kids eat free! Yum! Also, there is a new Sweet Tomatoes in the Target shopping complex that is wonderful when you find yourself needing to up your fresh fruit and veggie intake.

When and if you go to the Ale House I highly recommend the Chicken Zingers lol

Breakfast in the room, definately. You can pick up Muffins, Cereal and Milk.

If you are looking for a simple sit down, we love The Plaza (Magic Kingdom). Check out the menu, not too expensive. Big sandwiches that you can share.

Same with Tonys (you can split an entree) and Via Napoli (split the pizza). We find that these restaurants give us a break from the crowds, and are easier on the wallet!

I agree with the previous post, skip the buffets. We love the characer interaction, but we only hit these when we are on the free dining plan.

Also, if you really need characters, you could do one character meal one day (absorbing a lot of your funds) and then the next day, eat all counter service.
