I'm looking for a small tripod that I can use on non-flat surfaces. I have a friend with a Gorillapod, which looks like it would suit my needs, but I've also seen Promaster's The Clamper in a local store and like the looks of it. Anyone have any personal experiences with these?

If I go with a Gorillapod, are the legs going to deflect if I set it up like a tripod and let it sit over time to get some time lapse photos?

I have a nice Manfrotto tripod, but was looking for something a bit smaller for our trip next month.

How big of a camera are you putting on it?
