My son works for a performance boat shop and they have two GoPro HD cameras they mount fore and aft to record their race. The cameras record in 1080p and encode with H.264. They also take 5 Mpixel stills.
They can be mounted to helmets, fenders, and handlebars. They are completely waterproof.
After reading Mark Barbieri's thread going down the waterslide, I got to thinking of all the applications it has.
Both of the cameras in this video were mounted outside the boat going 100MPH, so the suction cups are sturdy.
