My dd(17) says to me last night that she wants to use google wave. I ask her what that is and after she explains I said "ok...well...go use it then."

Apparently you have to be invited to google wave like you did way back when for gmail.

Some of the kids at school have it, but she has yet to get any of them to invite her, so I said to her that I bet I could get an invite quickly and before she does.

That brings me here....

I know my disboard friends :disrocks: could help out, so does anyone have google wave and could invite me?? PM me. :thanks:

Sarah

How about explaining it to us?

About Google Wave

Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation
and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

Apparently is similar to google docs where you can share files with other people, but "so much better" she says.

Google describes it as:

"Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation
and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more."

"What is a wave?

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time. "

Thanks! You posted that as I was trying to post an explanation.

Sounds like here, but only in more real time. No pressing the refresh button to see a response. :)

Thanks everyone. Looks like I was right and my disboard friends came through before DD's friends.

Just goes to show how great the dis is!!!!

That sounds great! We used google docs alot for a project recently and it helped with everyone scattered. I look forward to this when it's out of Beta.

DH just invited me to it last week so that we can do our Vacation Bible School (VBS) coordination since he is running it this year.

Here's a few things that I know so far.

1. It works better with Firefox. You can use it on IE but you have to download Google Chrome in order to use it. That's the message I got when I tried to use IE.

2. You will need to sign up for a Gmail account if you don't already have one.

3. One thing I've noticed is that when you are posting and you make too many typos and backspace to correct, it will come up with an error. You can either type in the box that comes up to explain the problem and send it or click on "Refresh". Either way, I've been kicked out of my reply and brought back one level. Once back there, I have to click on the VBS title then go back and edit my reply to finish :headache:

I'm still trying to get used to it.
