Google Maps _ Street Level

OMG I can see my house on the new Street Level Google maps - I'm not sure that I like this.

It is scary, we had them drive around our street last week.
It was a little car with a huge mast with cameras mounted on the roof, like something out of Doctor Who! lol

I think it's cool, I was addicted to it before our California trip My road isn't on it (they don't seem to have done my area of Liverpool yet) but my dad's business is and you can see one of his employees.. I'm gonna link him to it, he'll get a kick out of it i'm sure!!

I thought because we lived in no mans land that we would have missed out. But checked that much of the outlying areas of Glasgow are also not mapped. So don't think we have anything to check here

I can zoom right in on our car in the drive (the number plates are blurred), looks like our photos were taken in the summer last year.
We live near a gated development with mainly large detached houses, I noticed they're not on it, I suppose thats what they pay their £1200 annual management fees for

I used Google Earth street view a lot before my Disneyland trip in the summer, it helped me work out where we needed to walk to when we wanted to pick up the hire car!!

I saw the google earth car today too, it drove past my school when I was out on the playground on duty at morning break.

I saw my house on this today - I am not sure I like it you can make out peoples door numbers etc. I am glad my front garden was tidy when the google van came and took photos

If you are unhappy about what it shows you can contact Google and they will remove the picture. It's been reported today that they have removed pictures in London that people complained about, one was of a gentleman coming out of an "adult" establishment in central london and another gentleman was mid vomit outside a pub in Shoreditch

How can i find out if my street is there?

Type in your postcode. You should be able to see a little pinman in top lefthand corner of map - if he's orange you're in a street level area. If he is orange then you can "pick him up" and drop him on any of the roads that are now highlighted in ble.

It's only some cities that are on there - I was very surprised to see my town, but as we live just inside the M25 we must have been caught by the London mapping.

they can only take photos of public places,as you kneed someones permision to enter a gated comunity they only film the gate.i saw the car near us as well the day it went live

I went on to check i wasnt washing my car in my wrks car park when I was meant to be working! I wasnt though, phweh.
I think it is amazing , I booked a hotel in san fran then I went to it on the map and walked to the beach! COOL
