Thank you.

I think we'll try both Goofy's at brunch/lunchtime and then try Minnies another day. You actually may have swayed me to Minnies with the mention of the Pooh characters--my daughter adores all of the Pooh characters. I was really wanting to do AG one day for dinner, but can't see myself justifying the cost for breakfast/lunch there. We have 4 premium dining certificates through Costco and I think I'd rather do Goofy's with that and pay for Minnies one day for brunch (and not pay out of pocket for AG at a non-dinner time).

I've confused myself so am sure I've confused other people too!

Decisions, decisions...my husband will say "Who cares about the cost? Do all 3 of the character dinings, then you won't be disappointed that you missed one." He's sweet...but leaves all the decisions to me which isn't always a blessing!!!

Gosh - what beautiful words to hear from a man (or anyone)!! He is a keeper!!

Who doesn't love Pooh and the Gang? That is a big plus about dining at Minnie & Friends.

I know what you mean about confusing yourself - I make myself nuts trying to coordinate just a few meals over a couple of days to please my friends and myself. I keep switching times around, moving a dinner choice to a breakfast choice, trying to time it so that if we have a huge breakfast, we won't be eating dinner until nighttime, etc. It is very confusing making these decisions!!

You know, if you do skip Ariel's, you can feel fairly safe in knowing that there will most likely be a couple of Princesses at Goofy's, along with the fuzzy characters there. Goofy's is the only other character meal besides Ariel's where any Princesses appear, but you won't find as many of them there as you would at Ariel's. For example, when we were there in December, we saw Goofy, of course, Chip, Dale, Max, Pluto and Belle (in her blue dress) and Mulan. I think there was another Princess on the other side of the restaurant who may have either been on her way out or on her way in to relieve Belle or Mulan from duty. The time before that, we saw Jasmine and Aurora, along with various furry characters. Snow White appears occasionally. I have heard that Cinderella is sometimes there, though we have not seen her yet. And of course, there are others who come and go. (Baloo is often there in the morning when we are there, and you might see any combination of Minnie, Captain Hook, Fairy Godmother, the Genie, Aladdin, Alice & the Mad Hatter, etc.)

So you will probably get a Princess fix even if you skip Ariel's. Also, Ariel's is stopping their character/Princess dinners soon becase of the World of Color show and the special dinner packages that will probably be sold in conjunction with that. I guess they don't want to have Princesses at the restaurant at night because they will be in the WoC show.

He definitely is great, I am very lucky. I know he appreciates all the work I'm putting into planning, but sometimes I wish he'd give me an opinion!!

You've given me lots to think about, thank you Sherry.

I'm disappointed about AG because we were going to go there for dinner our first day as a sort of "Welcome to Disney" evening for the kids. We arrive in DL on a Monday afternoon so I thought it would be a fun intro. So...now I need to rethink my planning. I guess doing Goofy's for dinner the first night and brunch the last day would be overkill, huh?

Thanks again!
Erin

You're welcome!

I was actually wondering if DLR would add another character dining option for dinner now that Ariel's will no longer have the Princess dinner starting next month (I think). As much as I love Goofy's, I fully believe guests should have a choice of character dinners, and Ariel's and Goofy's were the only two options for character dinners at DLR. Take away Ariel's and you've only got Goofy's. So it would be nice if they would take one of the other existing character breakfasts and extend it into dinnertime too, just to offer a diferent option. I doubt they would make Minnie & Friends a character dinner, and I have a hunch they would leave Storytellers Critter meal as just a character breakfast, but it seems like it would be easy enough to make the Surf's Up with Mickey at the PPH a character dinner too. So far, there don't appear to be any plans for that, though.

Well, not to add more confusion into the mix:rotfl2:, but you could just do Goofy's for dinner on arrival night and then one of the other character breakfast/brunches on the last day. Are you going into the parks on the last day or will that be a non-park day? If you are going into the parks, you could just do Ariel's for breakfast on that last day (even though breakfast at Ariel's was not the preferred choice), or if you are not going into the parks, you could just do the Critter Breakfast or Surf's Up if you didn't want to do Goofy's again for breakfast/brunch.

We really liked the brunch at Goofy's Kitchen. Hubby thought it was easily the best meal we had at DLR and we did Cafe Orleans also as well as Storytellers Cafe's dinner buffet. I know when we eventually go back he will demand that we go back there even though it is a bit pricey. :)

I was a little shy to ask this, but here goes......... would my friend and I (both in our 40's) look a little strange at a character meal without any children? It would just be the two of us. Which one should we choose as two adults? Also please please excuse my ignorance but where would we find Goofy's Kitchen?

Goofy's Kitchen is located in the DLH - right next to Steakhouse 55.

If you and your friend look strange at Goofy's, then we will look strange right along with you! My friends and I are in our early 40's and we don't have kids, either. We go and I have never ever noticed anyone looking strangely at us - in fact, I often see other groups of people or couples without kids at Goofy's! I think it is not uncommon at all. There are no age barriers at character meals - they are for the young and the young at heart!:goodvibes

I wonder if they will add one before we're there in early August?

We're leaving San Diego on the Monday morning and planned on going to the park after we check into our hotel. So we'll have Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri at the park and then we leave on the Saturday (way too early...airport at 6 am) which will be a non-park day.

So...I'm thinking we could do Goofy's on our arrival night, and then if nothing changes between now and then we could always do Goofy's again for brunch on our last day (the Friday).

After Goofy's brunch, which character meal would you do Sherry?

Well, I've done Storytellers a few times, and some people love it but I have never been all that thrilled with it. It's not bad by any means - I would say the food is usually decent and I do like the restaurant itself in general. But as a character meal, for me it was kind of so-so. Kind of blah. I love Chip and Dale, but you can find them at Goofy's and Minnie's. I don't really care about the Brother Bear characters, but that's just my personal taste. The buffet at the Critter Breakfast is considerably smaller than at Goofy's but it's a better bargain than the menu items, which are overpriced.

So, after Goofy's I would probably do Surf's Up with Mickey at the PPH because they have a buffet and it's a nice beach/surf theme. Plus, that is the only character meal where you can find Mickey, and Daisy Duck is usually there too (she is kind of rare). After Surf's Up I would take my chances on the food at Minnie & Friends because of all those characters - I do love Pooh and Company. And then I would wait a while before going back to the Critter Breakfast. But, again, other folks love the Critter Breakfast, so you may love it.

Thanks for giving me lots to think about. We can book June 1st so I'm going to see if in the next month they add something instead of AG. If not then we'll go for Goofy's, Surf's Up and Minnie and friends...

:)
