OK, so after talking to my husband, thinking about what our kids could handle, and getting advice from you guys, we've decided to do Goofy's Kitchen on a day when we are NOT doing MM. I went ahead and made our reservation for Friday, 6/26 at 11am. I am a little worried because 1) GK closes at noon so I hope they keep fresh food out for us and we're not paying out the nose for the old food that's been sitting out all morning and 2) that the characters are all still there. I asked the lady on the phone, and she said they usually leave around 11:30-11:45. What do you guys think? Am I making a mistake with a Friday 11am PS? Our other option would be to try for a weekend PS because dh doesn't want to eat before 11am and I think they are open later on the weekends.

I thouhgt GK is open continously. They just transition for brunch to dinner. The eggs and breakfast items are replaced with the yummy prime rib

Well, they do replenish the food often, but I would assume that any buffet - Goofy's or otherwise - comes to a point where they stop replenishing when they are getting ready to close for the morning shift. If I were you, I would try to get there at least 30 minutes earlier than your PS time. If I were in your shoes, I would go at 10:00 a.m. - that seems like a good compromise, and it would be a good time when all the characters would be out and the food would still be fresh. I wouldn't go when it is getting close to when they close. I have heard conflicting stories of characters leaving right at noon, but guests are allowed to stay and finish their meals, and others say that Goofy's is somehow open until 2:00 p.m. and everything is up and running until then (which I haven't heard of personally). We always hit Goofy's first thing in the morning - I am talking like 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. - so I am not 100% cetain of what happens in the 11:00 a.m. hour, but if you are feeling unsure about it and can't get there any earlier, then do what you suggested and go on the weekend and you won't have any problem.

The breakfast food is fantastic - SUCH good bacon (if you like bacon) and fresh, juicy, yummy fruit, along with fluffy eggs, delicious potatoes, Mickey-shaped cobbler, mini-muffins and pastries, mini-Mickey waffles, worms and dirt, pizza, banana crepes, creme crulee French toast, croissants - all kinds of good stuff. In fact, I am planning a trip there in July and I can't wait. I miss my Goofy's Kitchen!!!

No. They haven't been open continuously in a while, though it may seem that way. In the old days of GK (when they were in a different spot in the DLH), they used to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and were open all day long. Now they just do a kind of extended breakfast menu that stretches into brunch time and then they close for a few hours to prepare for dinner.

We had an 11:00 reservation at Goofy's Kitchen on Monday, Memorial Day in May and we were there until 12:30 and they were still bringing out more food and the characters were there. There were people seated after us too. I know they didnt close at 12 that day. When I made the reservation I asked about closing timeand the cm told me we had 90 minutes for our reservation.

Yeah, I heard they are open until 2pm on weekends, so maybe it's the same on holidays too. I chose Friday thinking it might be less busy than a weekend, but then we have to worry about them closing early. Really, I feel like it's a catch 22 and it won't matter what we decide to do :rotfl:

I would say if you go Friday, then try to convince DH to eat earlier than 11:00 a.m. Otherwise, go on the weekend at 11:00 and then you won't have any fears of characters disappearing or food going stale because they will be prepared to be open later that day and will keep the food coming and the characters within reach. By the time you get there on a weekend day (if you choose to do that), a lot of preople will have already gone into the parks, so your 11:00 a.m. time may be just perfect!

We like both but like to use the morning hours to ride.

Jack
