Goofy's Kitchen Character Return?

Does anyone have any information on when characters might be returning to Goofy's Kitchen? I have a trip in a few weeks and I am looking for dinner plans outside of the park on our Saturday night arrival date. I have done Goofy's Kitchen years ago and enjoyed it, but I couldn't imagine paying that much and not having characters.

Does anyone have any other DTD dining recommendations for a family of 4? Not really interested in anything at GC. We used to always go to Rainforest Cafe, but that is obviously no longer an option.

For what it’s worth, I was at Goofy’s Kitchen last week and our server said they hope to have characters back “soon” but that could mean anything.

Anywhere in DTD is comparably good or better than Rainforest Cafe, so it depends on the kind of food you’re interested in. I like all the places at DTD, but probably find myself at Tortilla Jo’s and Jazz Kitchen the most.

There are no hours posted for Goody’s after 9/15. My best guess is characters may be back as of 9/16, but they have not made an announcement yet.

For Downtown Disney, I second Tortilla Jo's. It's our favorite table service. For counter service but really fun for kids, Black Tap and their Crazy Shakes is awesome too.

I also agree with Black Tap as a great DTD option, though it's not exactly table service if that's what you're after.

It seems to get somewhat mixed reviews but I enjoyed the food at Splitsville the one time I've been there. You could add on some family bowling fun too.

Thank you. The reason we would always do Rainforest Cafe was because of the unique atmosphere. We always look for that type of environment at our Disney trips. The date I am looking at is September 18th so I am still wondering about Goofy's.

Hopefully they announce Character return date in advance, rather than just "showing up". Seems like that's what most guests are waiting to make reservations for.

I think Black Tap is really good, too -- really excellent burgers! Jazz Kitchen is really good also.

Bummer! I’ve been waking up super early for weeks trying to book Goofy’s Kitchen, but of course didn’t today. Just now looking and nothing available for Oct 5-8 :( My kids really want to eat here!

Did anyone get reservations for Goofy's Kitchen for October? I've been checking every day, but it's not showing any availability.

Very odd. I’ve seen plenty of options throughout October but only for 2 people. When I change it to 4 there’s nothing at all. This leads me to think there’s a website issue and more will be released. I would keep trying.

Thank you! I’ll keep checking. There’s 3 of us so that might be it.

Dang! I actually was looking forward to no characters there for my visit. (Being a solo adult the character “interactions” can be wildly uncomfortable, lol)

I know the cost v quality of food isn’t at all worth it and it’s all about the characters, but the convenience since I’m staying onsite would be worth it once or twice during my stay, lol

Is it just me or can others not imagine spending $60 for breakfast food? We are staying at DLH and I was going to book it - but I refuse to pay $60 each plus tip to eat what I can get at any dennys or ihop for $10! I thought it would be about 29,99-34.99 for breakfast, which is still a lot -but its Disney prices -but $60?? Can't justify that!

I mean... it's a theme park. Everything is outrageously priced; it's just kind of part of the deal. We will pack in our own breakfast food and eat at Goofy's once, for dinner on the night of arrival. But we are definitely treating it as as An Event, rather than just a meal, like when people used to do the dessert parties and stuff. I don't remember what those cost, but it was a LOT and you were paying for good views and fanciness at a special event, not the desserts.
