Can someone give me the lowdown on Goofy's Barnstormer? What are the exact restrictions? I've seen 35" mentioned, and I've also seen 3+ yrs old.

At our next visit, DS will be 2yrs old, but he's easily 35" tall. The kid grows like a weed--already streching the limits of his 3T wardrobe. :)

Even if the only limitation is 35", my common sense is telling me that he is probably to young for the ride since it IS a rollercoaster. But if the concensus is that "it's no worse than Dumbo", I might reconsider...

Opinions?

One thing I can tell you is that it lasts for under a minute and the first 20 seconds are spent climbing the first hill. Kids absolutely love the ride. My four would have gotten in line again if I had let them. I think it is a great first time coaster for a child. I waited at the end for mine to get off and I saw nothing but very happy faces getting off in front of them.

My 2 year old went on it last year and loved it. This year she can't wait to go on the "big" rides and she is tall enough. Hope this helps.:Pinkbounc

My then 2 year old DS hates the ride but he always insist we ride it (I think he is trying to drive his mama to the funny farm.) His 4 year old big sister won't even consider riding it. Again, this is drving me nuts cause I love coasters in any shape, form or fashion and I need a riding buddy. Go figure!

My kids (5, 4, 2 1/2) all loved it.

Yet, I was scared on it. I thought BTMRR was much tamer. Go figure! Thanks goodness it's over quickly-I thought it went too fast.

Just a suggestion that might help. I put my arm around my boys so their head doesn't hit the back and so they will not sway side to side. This seems to help until they get used to the ride.

At 2 1/2 my DS freaked out, a year later on our last trip he loved it and refused to get off (yeah that was us). We rode it about 5 times in a row before he "allowed" us to do anything else.

My DD has been to WDW 4 times since she's been born- the first time when she was 18 months old, the second at 20 months, the 3rd for her 2nd birthday, and the last time was last month. She was tall enough to ride the Barnstormer on her 2nd birthday, and she *loved* it! Be prepared- while it's certainly not scary, it's not as tame as you might think, but my 2 year old (as well as my then-3 year old) LOVE that ride! My DS has also been going on BTMRR since he's been 3, so it really all depends on your child's comfort level...I say if your DS wants to do it, go for it! :)

The suggestion about using your arm as a support is a good one in my case. My 4 year old DD got a bit scared because is tossed her around some during the ride. When we return next month, I have promised her I would hold her tight if she would ride it again.

It is a quick ride. I will never forget her saying to me at one point that she was a little scared. I replied, that's alright honey, it's over!

Just a funny memory of Barnstormer I had to share....

My 30 yr old DH is petrified of roller coasters. So on our trip to MK last Feb. we rode Barnstormer to "break" him in on roller coasters. The CM got a real kick out of him. He had to watch it for about 10 runs and finally after questions from him and ALOT of encouragement from the CM, he rode it and loved it. For the rest of the day the CM would just laugh at us as we passed her in line. He ended up riding it 5 times throughout the day. Finally around 5 pm I actually got him on BTMRR, and he enjoyed it too!!!! I'm sure we'll have to start out at Barnstormer and work our way up to BTMRR again! Sure hope the CM is still there. I'm sure she'll remember him.

My 2 1/2 year old ds loved it ... but I did hang onto him pretty tight because it does whip you around. My 5 year old dd hates it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Our son is a pretty tough guy, so I guess we'll have to give it a try and see what happens. :)

In Dec., our DD2 got measured each time a new CM was holding the stick. With her "bald" head, she just looked too short. She loved being told she was tall enough (with an inch to spare!) and getting to march onto the ride. She rode it 5 times in a row, gleefully. Same trip, our DS5 rode BS for the first time and decided he loved it. This was a major breakthrough for him, first coaster ride he has enjoyed. After riding 6 times he was ready to try Thunder Mt. and Space Mt. (which he ended up loving). I do not think he would have like BS at 2 or 3 though. Each child is different. If your child ends up not liking it, at least it will be over quickly, lol.

my 23 month old was tall enough to ride his "first roller coaster " ride back in sept by several inches............and of course we get the front seat. i agree about using your arm as support......the first left curve we took....kinda scared him.........after that......no prob. i might suggest placing your child on the right side of you...since i had him on the left side.

My daughter (who is now 6) has loved this ride since she was 3... now that she's tall enough to ride SM and BTMRR (and loves BTMRR)... she still chooses to ride Goofy's Barnstormer... however, she's "technically" not old enough to ride alone! Try telling her that I have to ride with her... not a good idea!
