DAY 8 - 22nd December 2005

Weather Report: Sunny 66 degF. Cold evening.

Shopping! (sorry Kev :( ) and Candle Light Thingy

It's Christmas shopping day!
We had booked a towncar with FLTours to pick us up at 10am and take us to the Florida Mall. At 9:55, I had a look out of the hotel doors and there was our driver smiling back at me with our name displayed on a sign :)
After a nice relaxed ride we arrived at the mall, I was expecting it to be busy this close to Christmas, but there wasn't many folks there at all - perhaps because it had only just opened :)
We confirmed the 3pm pick up time with the driver and went into the mall.

It really is a big place! We basically just walked round going into any shop that looked interesting (this meant every teenage clothes shop with Nicola!). We had a good look round Sears, the Old Navy store, various sports shops (for me), more teenage clothes shops!, camera shops, games shops, more teenage clothes shops!
We did stop at one point and have a coke and some cookies :)

Looking at what we bought it all seemed to be for the kids!
They got a Nintendo DS each with a couple of Nintendog games (we got a Nintendog game for Nicola's boss too). Jade had about 3 pairs of jeans and load of tops, Nicola got various clothes and a Nightmare Before Christmas bag.
The only things me and Julie got were a new leather handbag (for Julie, not me!) and a hoodie top for me!

We could have done with more time really, but Jade especially was feeling the pace and had a headache. As we left the mall just before 3pm our trusty towncar driver was there waiting for us :)
Much better than getting an 'un-known' taxi back to the hotel :)

Once back at the hotel the girls had got there Nintendo DS unpacked before you could say Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!
No one told me the Nintendogs were voice controlled! All we could hear was 'Sit', 'Stay', 'Sit'........ for the rest of the holiday!

Eventual we managed to get changed and head off to Epcot. We had booked the Candlelight Processional Package with dinner at the Rose and Crown. We had to pick up the dinner voucher and badge first though.
After asking at Guest Relation we were directed to the American Pavillion to pick up our package stuff. Once we had our vouchers and badges we realised we hadn't really eaten today and our dinner wasn't until 8pm, so we headed to the UK to have some chips :) We sat and ate them across from the Chip shop in the little garden area behind the UK shops.
After a wondering round the shops in the UK we headed back to the American pavillion to see if they were starting to queue up for our 6:45pm show. It's a good job we went when we did - the lines were huge! The line was right back in Japan! So if you have booked a CP package and want a good seat, get there early!
Eventually the line started to move and we were soon seated in the theatre.
I'm not in the least bit religious, but I still enjoyed the show. Towards the end they played the Hallelujah chorus and everyone around us suddenly stood up! We looked at each other and thought we had better stand up as well! Still don't know why everyone stood up!

After the show we sprinted (OK, we walked as fast as the crowds allowed) back to the UK for our 8pm ADR at the Rose and Crown. We had never eaten here before, so we were looking forward to it.

We checked in at the desk and they gave us a vibrator to let us know when they were ready for us. After a few minutes looking round the UK shops the vibrator started to flash and err vibrate, so we headed back for dinner.

Dining Review:
Starters - We all had the lamb and barley soup - very nice.
Main Course - Grilled ribeye steak with Yorkshire pud, green beans and mash - very nice, although they can't cook Yorkshire pudding!
Dessert - I had the chocolate guinness cake, and the girls had the apple crumble.
Drinks - Julie had a pint of cider, I had a pint of Guinness and the girls hada cokes.
A very nice meal - one of the best so far in WDW :)
Total cost of CP package - $166.10 (tip included)

We had arranged to meet Lorraine again at the Epcot Christmas tree. On the way we picked up our EMH wrist bands.

After meeting up with Lorraine and family we headed over to Soarin'. The standby was 60 mins. but as we were still stuffed from dinner we decided to go for it. The time past quickly as we chatted in line. After Soarin' we haed over to Test Track. The wait was 40 mins, but again it went quickly when you are chatting with friends :)
We came out of Test Track and walked straight onto Mission Space with no lines at all!
It was getting late now, so we decided to head back to the hotel. We took a nice steady walk back via the Yacht and Beach Club. Finally got back to the room at 1:35am!

Great day & a very late night!

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Really enjoyed your report, Tim. The Rose and Crown food sounds really good, and the thought is making me hungry! ::yes::

It's "tradition" to stand during the Hallelujah chorus. The "legend" is that one of your very own queens (not sure which one) was at a performance of The Messiah and spilled something as The Hallelujah Chorus began~and stood up, so everyone else stood up, as well. Interesting that the story has survived in America and not across the pond!

Enjoying your reports... we leave in 2 hours!
