Personally, I haven't always found #2 pencils to be the sharpest writing tools in my crayon box.

(Although I suppose a case could be made that any writing instrument is only as bright as the person who wields it. Hmm... that could cast a different light on that adage 'bout the pen being mightier than the sword.... why am I now envisioning a potential Warner Bros cartoon where Bugs could creatively attempt to outwit Taz with pen/pencil, but after a moment or two of dumbfounded hesitation, Taz could simply grin and chop it in half with an axe? )
