Does anyone know if Goodings grocery store is a walkable distance from Downtown Disney? We're staying at the Fort Wilderness cabins for 2 weeks. I won't have a car to get groceries, and our flight gets in after midnight, so a late night stop with our town car transportation won't work either. Thanks.

Yes, it is definitely a long walk, however. It is also WAY overpriced. You would be better off taking a cab to Winn Dixie or Publix.

Yes, with a 2 week vacation, you'd want to stockpile some essentials!

A cab as Gail said, or a one day car rental might work for you. Shop, eat out, tour Orlando a little bit.

Have fun,

herc.

Goodings is open 24 hours so you could stop on your way into town BUT as others posted it is EXTREMELY overpriced ($6 for a 12 pack of soda, etc....) so you would be much better off taking a cab over to PUBLIX which is literally 2 or 3 miles further down Hwy 535 from Goodings. (Corner of 192 & 535)

We went to Goodings on our last trip down, DH questioned the cashier about some of the prices & she told him "Oh, I don't shop here, I can't afford to, I go to Publix." That speaks for itself. On our next trip, we'll probably venture out a little more & try to find Publix or Winn-Dixie.

I have also seen people use a company called We Go Shop. You fax or email you grocery order to them, you also pick the grocery store. Then they deliver your groceries dircetly to you at your cabin.

We went to Goodings on our last trip..... and we won't go back.

1. What little cereal they had left, was over $5.00 for a small box.

2. They were out of all the pop that my family drinks.

3. Bottled water and milk was about the same price as the resort.

UGH I would spend the extra money to take a cab to the publix, you will get everything you need and probably even come out ahead.

I emailed the people at WeGoShop.com. I think I'm going to try them. It may work well for us. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe not if the alternative is taking a cab to a supermarket.

I would definetly avoid Goodings. We were in somewhat of a crisis and needed diapers, and some baby medicine rather quickly. The prices for diapers was $7.00 over what we pay for the same ones at walmart or kmart, or at our local grocery store. I couldn't believe the prices. I would look elsewhere, it was cheaper to buy things at the FW store at the campground .:earseek:

WeGoShop...$25 service fee sounds about fair, they are doing the shopping, and driving. Also I know that Happy Limo will preshop for you at Albertsons, and perhaps the other car services do as well. At least it's an option to taking a taxi and using an hour or two of your time.

Yes, I believe that most of the limos will stop at a grocery store. Our problem is that our flight is a red-eye, getting in at 1:00 a.m. Not much is open that hour, plus after flying for 12 hours with 5 kids, I think I won't feel like grocery shopping. Thanks to a suggestion from this list, I'm going to try WeGoShop.com, and have the groceries delivered the next morning. By the time I get a taxi and shop myself, the $20 fee doesn't look so bad! This way, I can sleep in, and like you said, let someone else do the shopping! Thanks again for the great suggestions!

Just a FYI, WalMart, Goodings, Publix, Target and a few others are open 24/7.

I like Goodings. They always have a great selection and are right in line with prices here in my area. I am one of only a few that actually go here. Their bakery has so many goodies!

I thought CT was expensive, I am glad I don't live near you, only cause of the grocery prices. :)

Thanks for letting me know which stores are open 24/7. Last time I went, I was told by my limo driver that everything closed at 11 pm. So I didn't get any groceries. When I called the company the next day, they apologized and said the driver was new, and refunded part of my money! But it is good to know that there are stores open that late if I need it. Now I am being lazy, and may opt for the grocery delivery. I just think I'm going to be pretty tired by then, not to mention dragging 5 sleepy kids through a store at that hour.
