Goodies for pre-k school b-day party

Please give me some ideas for some cool goodies that I can give to my dd's pre-k class. She will be turning 4 in a few weeks. Everyone always brings cupcakes and goody bags filled with candy and junk toys. I am tired of all this candy and I'm sure other parents are also! With Halloween just around the corner I know the kids will get enough candy when they go trick or treating. There are 20 kids in her class. I want to spend around $20-$25. Any suggestions? I really want it to be something they can use. Thanks!

I got some little tikes scriblets (magna doodle) for $.50 each and also little tikes pop tops for $.86 each (they are racing playsets), that included shipping and will give out for halloween treats so sounds like this would fit up your alley.

Or what about hot wheels cars for boys and something small for girls. I don't think littlest pet shop toys are cheap enough but not sure.

Playdoh, coloring books ($1 store) or many items from $ store, ours has yoyo's, crayons, lightsticks, books, puzzles, etc.

20.00 for 20 kids is going to be tough. I might just skip the treat bags and focus on the food. What the chidlren at our school get the most excited about at parties is the special party supplies. Fun plates, cups etc.make anyfood fun. They also like paper hats and blow things. They also like fun shaped sandwiches. Look for a cookie cutter in the shape to match your plates or just a fun shape. Serve with fruit and dip and drink. That right there however is going to run around over 20 or 25. Check out the $ store for paper goods.

I gave out books with the treat bags at my kids parties.
My dd's b-day is in August, so I always gave out a "back to school" type book.
DS's is right at Valentine's Day...so those books were always a Val. Day book.

If your child's teacher will be sending home a Scholastic book order soon, you could order 20 copies of one of the .95cent books. (There are always some on each offer). Not all preschools use Scholastic Book clubs though...my children's did (the Firefly issues are for PreK-K ages).

One year I did the boxes of Barnum's animal crackers with the handles, the kids actually looked so cute walking out to car line with them.

I have also done paddle balls. To me this is a toy the kids love but is usually a disposable toy bc they break easily, but mine always love to get them.

what about getting some mini pumpkins and letting the kids decorate them? I am thinking about doing this for my dd fall festival party and her teacher loved the idea!

Something that I've done in the past is to make homemade play-doh (I've done peppermint scented around Christmas, pumpkin spice died orange around halloween and chocolate any other time!) put in a cellophane bag and tie a cookie cutter to the top of the bag with curly ribbon. You can just google a recipe for scented play-doh, its fast, fun, easy and cheap! Plus the kids love playing with the yummy smelling play-doh when they get home and use the cookie cutter to make shapes!

I'm actually doing this next month for my kindergarden son when he is star of the week. I am dying the play-doh blue (our school colors), probably mixing in some berry kool-aid for the scent and attaching a star shaped cookie cutter to the top of the bag. Most parents send in some kind of candy bag, and I know the kids love it, but I hate all that sugar and junk!
