Well, after weeks of trying to find a job within the Civil Service, so I can transfer back to mainland in June, I have been unsuccessful :sad2:

So, I bit the bullet and applied for a job in 'civvy street' and have got an interview on Monday :Pinkbounc The pay's not quite as good, nor are the holidays but... there are other benefits including a child care voucher scheme and car leasing scheme so it may even itself out. I am flying in to Bristol first thing Monday morning, driving to Chippenham and then flying back to Belfast on Monday afternoon.

This will be my first interview in the private sector for over 10 years so good vibes would be much appreciated.

:wizard: :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :sunny: :woohoo:

Good vibes sent! :hippie:

Best of luck Joh, I'm sure you'll sail through :wizard:

Good luck, Joh. Have they told you what to expect? Most companies run 'assessment centres' these days which can be very unlike the traditional interviews of old. Not meaning to scare you, of course - just thinking that we might be able to help out. :goodvibes

Funnily enough, Deb, the woman that phoned me did mention the format. She said there would be an 'assessment' from 10:45 - 11:30, followed by an interview lasting no more than an hour.

When I enquired about the assessment part of it, she said she didn't know any more and that none of the candidates would know what to expect beforehand. Didn't exactly fill me with confidence - or give me an idea of what I need to do in terms of preparation. So, any information you can offer would be very gratefully received.

:grouphug: Good Luck :wizard:

Please rember you might not be able to spend the whole day looking for answers on the daily Quiz in your new job, :lmao:

That is a VERY good point Jackie - on second thoughts, maybe I'm OK where I am :rotfl2:

Good luck!

The assessments are often multiple choice questions, so hopefully not quite as scary as a "proper" test- you'll be fine!

:wizard: :wizard: Wishing you lots of luck Joh. I'm sure you will be fine
