good "take out" place

We had planned to bring bags of candy with us for the kids. They wont care too much about trick or treating. I just thought it might be fun to walk around and see all kids dressed up and collecting candy. If we did TOT, we honestly would only do a few places.

We plan on parking at the TTC and taking the boat to MK for the afternoon. Then either moving our car to where ever we end up, or leaving the car and taking the monorail to Poly or boat to camp ground. then heading back after fireworks. Not sure that is gonna work. I don't know what the boat schedule would be from campgrounds to TTC at 10pm. Or if the monorail runs that late either.

The other family we go with are BIG TIME campers and they really want to check out the camp grounds for next trip. But I bet parking is gonna be crazy at the camp ground. Plus I think I read somewhere that parking is very far from the beach.

If we want do fireworks at the Poly, who do we ask about it? Security at the gate?

I guess another option could be to watch the fireworks from the TTC. I remember seeing a thread where someone posted a great map with all the places to watch the fireworks from.

Now I'm just not sure what to do. I wish we could afford the $650 for MNSSHP. Darn, why does WDW have to make everything so expensive for large families!

Have you thought about trying to get reservations at Ohana's for the 31st, this way you would be at the Poly and there would be no issue with parking there. Yes, not cheap but far cheaper then the MK that night. I can tell you if you ask security anything about watching the fireworks from the beach they will tell you it is not permitted and turn you away.

What about going to Downtown Disney that night or if you don't have hoppers pick another park that is open late that day and go there that day instead of the MK.

I love Disney, I really do and we go all the time, many times a year, however they are getting very smart to people and are clamping down on a lot of stuff that used to be very easy to do, like watching Fireworks from the beach and such. Before, I'd be disappointed I'd plan something that I knew I could do. And I agree, they are pricing themselves out of the market for family trips.... family of any size.

Why don't you just swap parks that day and go to a different park? It looks like HS is open until 8 or Epcot until 9. Not that much longer, but at least they're not going back home at 7.

If you can't go to a different park, then why not do something fun and festive back at the townhouse later that night? Do dinner and then decorate plain cookies or cupcakes with orange and black frosting. Or show spooky movies and have popcorn as a family.

We have had breakfast at Trails End & ate at HDDR (same kitchen as Trails End). Their fried chicken is pretty good so it may be good to do carry out from there. You may consider quick service at Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, or Grand Floridian. You may like one of their menus.

I agree that Flippers is the best pizza around. We just got back last week and ordered Flippers. We had it before and it's consistently good.The pizza was excellent. We also had buffalo wings and salad. It was great. We had it delivered. There is more than one location for Flippers and their menu is online. Hope this helps.

You won't be able to park at FW near the beach . You will have to park at the entrance of fort wilderness, then take an internal shutte to the beach area. The best bet would be to take the boat to FW and then the boat back to MK after the fireworks and EWP, then take the monorail or boat back to ticket and transportation center. The CS place at the grand Floridian, I think has large pizzas as well. You can do and see the same thing from the Grand Floridian. You won't have a good fireworks view from the wilderness lodge.

The boat from FW will run to MK and the monorail (or ferry) will be open late because it's a party night, and MK is open until midnight. Your best bet, if you plan on going to FW will be to keep your car parked at MK. The boat from MK brings you right to the beach at FW, Trails end is right there as well. There is a really nicely decorated loop right there as well. People go all out, they take their decorating seriously, lol.

My parents haven't booked their loop yet, and we're really trying to figure out what we're going to do. We love camping at the Fort on Halloween ... it's a very unique experience!

I have been thinking about this, and here is my advice.

Don't take 60-90 minutes (or more, conceivably - remembering the night a quick trip to WalMart doubled when we got stuck behind an accident) out of your precious vacation time with your family to go on a wild goose chase like this. It's not worth it. Wherever you go, just stay together. (I'm picturing you - amidst Halloween party revelers on their way into the MK - traipsing with several bags of food in the heat by yourself, sweat pouring off of you, going onto the tram or walking through the parking lot, then onto the monorail, then through the resort, then on to the beach - bags ripping, things dropping, etc. Cold, soggy food by the time you get back... Uggh!)

Consider eating in the park or on your way out of the park. Since you are in a condo, why not have "dinner" for breakfast (? ham steaks and eggs) and have "breakfast for dinner"? (Hey, it's vacation!) Stop at the Main St Bakery and grab some cinnamon buns to share. (They are huge!) Many people eat these for breakfast - you could just do it in reverse! Bring along some fresh fruit if it makes you feel better...

Or eat at any one of the other resorts already mentioned. You can usually get pizza at most resorts, can't you? Alternatively, as pp's have mentioned, you could have it delivered to any resort. The chicken meal sounds great, and you could eat it at a table at FW, etc.

If you want to keep some treats for your kids, you could always pack a soft sided cooler and leave it in a MK locker for the day, then pick it up on your way out. (You could do this with sandwiches as well.)

Just my $.02. You will figure out a way to make it work. But stay with your family and have a great evening together. Anything else, IMO, has disaster written all over it!

Totally agree with that sentiment! I would never leave property to do any of this, although I did give the OP advice on how to possibly do it, because I thought that was what she wanted. But I entirely agree with the time is money thing.

Have not personally eaten here but I found this off the Trails End (Fort Wilderness Resort) menu:

They are a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. I believe you can see fireworks from Fort Wilderness too. So maybe an alternative would be to all go over there and eat the pizzas on the beach there?

I'm thinking we may just head over to FW and "check it out". Looks like the boat is our best bet. Maybe check out the decorations as one pp mentioned. Try and watch fireworks or water parade and then head back to townhome.

My immediate family (3 people) did MNNSHP on oct 31, 2011. It was fantastic. But I remember only finding a few places available to eat. I didn't plan well and we wondered around until we ended up at cosmic rays. It was a lucky find- loved that place. But this time my sister's family will be with us (6 of them) and they are EATERS! Right after they finish one meal, they are planning the next. Drives me crazy. Anyway- they are on a strict budget and I am trying to figure out a relatively cheap way to feed her crew and stay at MK as long as we can....7pm, before we get kicked out. We are wearing costumes, so the other parks didn't appeal to us.

The main st bakery looks like a great idea, to hold them over. Thanks for the pictures. Then maybe we can get something from trails end.

I guess here in Maine pizza from a gas station is "normal!" Most good pizzas around here are from convenience stores that also sell gas. I think the take out from the Trail's End sounds like a good idea. We ate at the Contempo Cafe on our 2010 trip and I remember it being good and reasonably priced, if that's another option.
