I've seen all the recommendations for Crocs. Any other good choices for going to Disney and all that walking?

We always go with a decent, broken-in sneaker....think it gives the best support and tootsie protection. The kids ususally wear Teva type sandals. We have never had a blister ( I hope I haven't just cursed our lucky streak!). The last time we went I was really looking out for people in crocs, but didn't see as many as I thought I would, especially given all the discussions on this board.

I had a really good pair of Easy Spirit walkers our last trip. I also use Body Glide for anti-blister preparation. Don't forget Dr. Scholl's Pepermint foot lotion for after a long day in the parks, it's great.

what I think is most important is good insoles (green superfeet are amazing, I can't go without) and the right socks. I'd reccommend running socks, you can get them plain or get the fun ones from defeet's website
I don't see lime green but there's a bunch of fun/bright ones... they are a bit expensive but regular nike or champion brand running socks would work fine
they're not cotton, they wick the sweat away from your feet, and I've never gotten even a single blister wearing running socks

Whatever in Disney you will walk a lot.

My Keen's "urban hikers" were good, but my Croc's rocked. My DH and DD didn't get out of theirs all week.

Have to agree on the good socks. I invested in running socks with Cool Max for the whole family - they were $5 a pair but so-o-o worth it.

We used Body Glide on our feet, too. With the Crocs, the socks and the body glide our feet felt great! :goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestions. Any other suggestions more than welcome. We would all need new shoes for the trip. Our kids are toddlers if that helps any. Will note the socks. I hate wearing socks, especially with sandals but will put them on if it will keep me going all day. :)

If you buy any new shoes, make sure you wear them around for a couple weeks prior to your vacation! Never go to Disney with brand new shoes! You'll regret it as you pile on the bandaids.:headache:

For us it is running shoes and socks all the way. We might try sandals for 1 day to release the sore feet but back to running shoes the next day. I find wearing sandals though people step on your toes and that hurts so much:scared1:

The last two times I went, I wore Nike sandles (type with a band across the top, and no heel). They were great because you could adjust the top band (velcro) if your feet swell...they are also waterproof. I'm like you, I hate wearing socks, and had no problems at all. Just be sure you use sun screen on your feet and calves, I got a horrible rash, which I am assuming was either from the reflection off the pavement, or burn.

I am a flip flop QUEEN. Everyday a different pair. The only time I traded them in was when we were going back out during the tropical storm and I knew I would be running in between buildings and stuff so I wore sand and water shoes and they were fine too. This trip we all have crocs to take...so I will let you know the difference.

I wore Crocs, Tevas and New Balance slip on mules and they all were great, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be my Tevas.

I am a witness to this...i wore new tennis shoes, by day two i was hopping. lession learned!

I have worn broken-in "light" hiking boots (i.e. the ones that are very similar to high top tennis shoes) and broken-in running shoes. I've also worn sandals (el-cheapo "athletic-type" sandals from Payless). The hiking boots worked well (but were during a Thanksgiving trip), and the running shoes worked well. The sandals were comfortable, until the end of the day, when my soles felt like they had been sandpapered. Next visit, I'm going with Crocs and/or broken-in running shoes.

I have a foot problem (no cartiliage) and get a steroid injection before going to Disney and from now on, I will only wear New Balance walking shoes as they have proven to be the most comfortable walking shoe for me.
