Hi

Just back from Orlando and would just like to pass on a tip for seating arrangements on TCD's 747 cattle class.

The very back 3 rows of the TCD 747, side WINDOW seats are in 2 seat, instead of the normal 3 seat configeration. They are rows 59, 58 & 57

Row 59 is at the very back and therefore you have no one kicking you in the back and have a nice deep recline pitch. There is cabin space behind so whilst being handy for the loos, you are not affected by people queuing or using them. The cabin window behind gives you the opportunity to get up and stretch your legs and look out of the windows on either side of the aircraft.

In front, rows 58 & 57 have similar advantages as above but also have extra room at the side of the seat (with window seats in row 57 having almost an additional three quarters of a seat space next to it due to the curve of the plane.

Both drink and food service is started from the back of the plane so you get served almost straight away, and are also almost guarenteed your choice of meal/ drink.

You also get to board first.

The only downside is that you get of the plane last (and it is a BIG plane !) - overall this is a small price to pay for a more comfortable journey. however unless you pre book these seats you'd have to be at the airport early to request them as I think they fill the plane from the back to the front on a first come basis.

Anyone else got any other 747 cattleclass seats they can recommend ????

Most 747's have the same configuration at the back due to the aircraft getting thinner at that point :) :)
Most airlines have more than 3 rows with the 2 seats by the window style. We always try to get seated there.

We have pre booked these type (yes I know it can change LOL) on our VA flight this summer :)

We have 2 x 2 near but not quite at the back of the plane. I'm looking forward to only having to clamber over one person rather than 2 to get out :teeth:

We got those seats on the TCD plane coming home, it was great! My fear of flying is helped by being able to see outside oddly so I got to do that without us having to climb over a stranger if we wanted to get out.

this site gives details of good and bad seats for lots of different planes and airlines. Not sure if this has been posted before.

I am more concerned with avoiding bad seats and also the ones in front of them. Flying home at night from Orlando into Cardiff a few years ago we were seated in front of a row which didn't recline. The woman in that row wouldn't allow me to recline my seat to sleep and kicked the back of the seat until I complained to the stewardess. They offered to move me to the only spare seat on the plane but that would have meant leaving my DD (whos frequently airsick) on her own. The woman behind me refused to move and was quite rude to the staff, so I had to put up with it. The funny thing was that I am tall but as we got off the plane we saw that she was under 5ft tall and she was complaining about the legroom.
