Hello,

We're currently in full planning and countdown mode as we're off in 3 weeks!! Hurrah!!!

Can someone help me choose the best rides for my lot for......

MK
AK
MGM
EPCOT
US
IoA

It's difficult to judge what my children will like as the only rides we've been on are at the local theme park in UK they were both happy on small rollercoasters. Obviously I don't expect too much for the 1yo !!

Thanks,

;)

Lisa

Good question, lisag1.

Of course, you know your kids best, but...

We've traveled with our DS several times, and he likes riding just about everything they'll let him on... (He'll be 5 in Nov.)

When he was little (around 1), he mostly loved to look at the flowers, characters, and play in the splashy water fountains they have in all the parks. So bring a dry change of clothes with. He went on all the "dark" rides, and seemed to love the music and looking around, especially Peter Pan (his fave) and Pirates.

He's also always loved the play areas in each of the parks. Universal has a nice big one, and the Boneyard in AK were his favorites.

There are a lot of rides you can enjoy as a family, and (assuming you have another adult with you) you can do a "child swap" to allow you to enjoy the ones that are too intense for the little ones.

Ones not to miss for everyone:
MK - Pirates, Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, Haunted Mansion, Pooh, Tomorrowland Transit Authority (never any line, and great views of the park), and the Railroad. The older kids might also like the Goofy Rollercoaster, Splash Mountain, Big thunder, and Space Mountain (if the 6YO is big enough). There are plenty more, but these are the ones that come to mind.

epcot - Spaceship Earth, Honey I shrunk the audience.

MGM - Muppets 3D, Great Movie Ride

DAK - Kilimanjaro Safari, Tough to be a bug, Lion King show

We've only been to US/IOA once, so I don't really have "favorites" there yet...

Enjoy your planning. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

:)

MK:

Basically all of the rides in Fantasyland, the Tomorrowland Speedway, Buzz Lightyear, TTA, Carousel of Progress, all of the things in Toontown, MK Railroad, Country Bear Jamboree, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, and Aladdin.

EPCOT:

Living Seas, The Land, Cranium Command, and Honey I Shrunk. A walk around World Showcase may interest them.

MGM:

The Great Movie Ride, Beauty and the Beast, Al's Toy Barn
Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Hunchback of Notre Dame, MuppetVision 3D, Backlot Tour, Bear in the Big Blue House, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.

AK:

Tree of Life, It's Tough to be a Bug, Discovery Island Trails. The Festival of the Lion King & Pocahontas and Friends shows are very good. Kilimanjaro Safaris, Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Rafiki's Planet Watch are great as well. Don't forget Tarzan Rocks!, The Boneyard, and Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama.

I will be going in 3 weeks also with my 4 year old. I will take her on everything in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. We will probably be living there. LOL. I haven't decided about Snow Whites Scary adventure yet. I've heard it is too scary for little kids and I haven't been on it before. Also, the Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear. Goofy's Rollercoaster is a good one if they are tall enough.

Keep in mind(I'm assuming you are going in Sept. since you said 3 weeks) that It's a Small World and Bear in the Big Blue House will be closed during that time, and didn't I hear that Carousel of Progress would be closed also? I really wanted my daughter to see those, but I'll sure we will keep busy.

Also, wanted to add that I would skip It's Tough to be a Bug, and Honey I shrunk the Audience. In my opinion it could be very scary for little children. Your 6 yr old 'might' like it. There are many time it gets pitch black and rats and snakes get loose (of course all imaginary) and swipe at your feet. Bees sting you and Bugs squirt you in the face. Of course, I've combined the two shows. I'm not taking my daughter....maybe I'm using her as an excuse so that I don't have to go back. ROFL!!

This is my daughter's first trip and we will be spending most of our time at MK and MGM. We might make a trip to Sea World. There just isn't much at Epcot for little children, and I'm not that impressed with AK. Have fun planning.
