I'm looking for a new camera. I currently just have a Canon PowerShot. The problem is it is SO slow between shots that I usually miss what I need to capture as I have a 2 year old who cannot stand still very long. I want something that sets automatically that I don't have to mess with settings or anything as I know nothing about cameras or photography. I end up using my iphone a lot of the time because it takes pictures so much quicker than our digital camera. I hate using my iphone so much though as a camera.

IMHO, the best budget camera for fully automatic is the iphone. (Particularly the newest models).
Really cheap point and shoots aren't any better -- may actually be worse.
Moving beyond that, the cameras can perform better than the iphone if you learn how to use them. But if you want to stick to fully automatic 100% of the time, you won't get much better than the iphone unless you're willing to spend quite a bit.

It's possible you are using less than ideal settings on your current camera. Often slow shot-to-shot time is the result of the camera trying to figure out the focus and metering for the whole picture. If you can set your camera to only center or spot focus and spot metering, the camera has much less to think about, and takes the picture faster.

Another consideration, are you talking indoor (low light) focusing? Is your camera faster outside, in the sun?

If so, you may need to investigate the photographic attributes of "fast lenses" - Aperature (low f/ values mean more light, f/1.8 is much better than f/3.3). And larger sensors. (Bigger sensors capture more light, in the cannon world, the s120 has a bigger sensor than the SX600. The G7X has a bigger sensor than the s120..)

I don't know your price range but I just used my new Nikon Coolpix 530 at WDW and I am so, so happy with my photos. My husband has an Olympus SZ-16 and he has some great shots as well.

we are taking a cannon Powershot 50x is this is good camera to get some great pictures of our 19 month old interacting with the characters?

The Canon SX50? It's a quality point and shoot. With the correct settings you should be able to capture some good moments. You might want to check out settings be taking a few test shots before you are next in line.

thanks alot i just got the camera so still trying to figure everything out with it. we got it cause we wanted to bed able to keep up with her as she is fast moving now and into everything so wanted something with rapid picture taking dont know if make sense or not haha
