Good place to stay?

Hey everyone, I am booking a trip down to the San Diego area this August. I have been looking on vrbo for a house/condo near the beach to stay, but am at a loss for which area might be family friendly, close to attractions and a good beach to play at.

I grew up in San Diego...I would recommend Mission Beach. There is a roller coaster (yes...it was an old wooden one that was fixed up)right there on the beach, and you are not that far away from Mission Bay and Sea World. Pacific Beach is right near a bunch of clubs and singles hang outs. Ocean Beach seems like the beach from the movie Fletch. That's my 2 cents. For a family, I'd go for Mission Beach, but check it out online first.
