Good place to save && on a zipline?

I'm thinking a zipline wod be great for my 12 year old, but they are running a little pricey on Amazon and eBay... Around $130. My ideal range is closer to 60-80. It can't be too chintzy though as he weighs 115 lbs already and I want him to be able to use it for at least a couple of years. Any ideas for websites I could try?

My DH built our boys a couple of ziplines a few years ago. I would be very leary of paying $60 for a zipline - you do not want your child on a zip line that is made of very thin and cheap wire. You need a thick, heavy duty wire on your zip line, for your child's safety and thick wire is not cheap.

My DH paid more than your budget doing it himself - but he made sure to use good quality products for the zip line. DH's zip lines have been used for years, and are still safe for our now teenagers to have fun with.

Just FYI - a local Atlanta woman fell into a river when the zip line she was riding on broke this summer. She ended up getting flesh eating bacteria and losing her legs and hands. Splurge for safe wire!

I agree,you don't want to go cheap on a zipline. We also had one that my husband build, but he used extremely heavy weight wire, etc. for it. You definitely don't want the wire to break ,e tc. This is one item that is worth a little extra money.

Recently had a kid in the Seattle area who used one unsupervised at his house and was found dead from hanging himself. I guess it is no different from kids that drown in pools but kind of freaked me out because I can't imagine that a backyard zip line could be much of a thrill.

Geez...I don't need one more thing to worry about with the kids. I have never heard of someone hanging themselves on one, but now that that's been put out there - I probably won't be able to relax having one. So....back to the drawing board! I NEED an idea for my 12 year old son for an outdoor/active toy/item. He has a bike, basketball hoop, bb gun, scooter.... we live in themiddle of the woods with no neighbors so he needs something where he can occupy himself outside occasionally. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

My daughters got one from my parents 2 yrs ago for Christmas and they love that thing!! We have it hanging between 2 trees in the back half of our yard.. it runs about 65 ft or so, and we built a small platform/ladder for them to climb on to to start at.

Not sure how anybody would hang themselves on it.. unless they had rigged something up to it that was unsafe.
