We got some good news this week about Titus. He's been deployed to Iraq since March 1st of last year and his redeployment to the states was given a window of Feb/March 2004. Well a couple days ago Titus IM'ed us and let us know that he will be flying to Kuwait this week. We are so excited about that! We're not sure how soon he'll be home because he doesn't know how long they'll be in Kuwait but it won't be too long I'm sure.

I haven't posted a lot about Titus and his war experiences because well, I guess because I don't like to post about hard or negative types of things but it has been much harder on Titus than any of us expected and with worse consequences. The Titus that is coming home isn't the Titus that left and I'm not sure what all the ramifications of that will be.

I hope he is home real soon.

I can not even begin to wonder how he is going to adjust. I keep thinking of my baby brother. He is joining the Marines in July (after he graduates high school) and I dont know how I would act if he was deployed over to Iraq if things are still hot over there. All of these poor young men and woman over there - they have truelly been through alot in their young ages.

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc That's GREAT news, Keli! I'm so happy he'll be home soon. Hoping he feels comfortable getting any help to readjust after his experiences.

 Good news for sure, Keli. So happy to hear Titus is on his way home. And I bet Ashli is ecstatic. Hoping our hero adjusts quickly, and fully.

So glad to hear the good news Keli! I bet Ashli is thrilled!! I hope that adjustment back into life here will go smoothly for him.

I had been wondering about Titus since we heard the 101st was starting to redeploy and hoping you would here soon when he would be home. I don't think anyone who has been over there, or in combat anywhere for that matter, comes home the same. I have a lot of concern about how deployment is going to affect my DH (his National Gaurd unit was called up in December for 18 months-they are scheduled to leave for the sand on 28 January) and how it will impact our relationship. But, both my Dad and FIL did tours in Vietnam and my mother and and MIL assure me that we will get through it. One of the reasons they keep the units together for a while after deployment is to give them time to work through the stress with people who have shared their experiences. Encourage him to take advantage of the services the military will provide to help with readjustment -and as much as she wants to see him, Ashli will need to understand that he will need time to adjust and that they many struggle with their relationship. If she is interested send me a PM and I will point her to some of the resources that the military provides to spouses to help them prepare for difficult reunions.
And I am wishing them both the best of luck
Julia

Oh that is great news!! I am happy for you and ashli! I hope he comes home as much himself as possible.

I dont really know you, but I have to say I just love to look at your pics, I just love asli and Titus' expressions!!! I cant wait for the day you will get to see that face in person!:D

I am glad to hear that he will be coming home soon.

and yes the people returning after deployment have been forever changed due to the situation in Iraq. They are always in my prayers.

Take good care!

That is great news. I hope Titus gets to come home soon. We were hopeful about my BIL who has also been in Iraq since March, but his orders have been extended until June. That's quite a long hitch for a reserve unit.:(

I am glad to hear he has started the first leg of his journey home. I remember in 91 when DH started that stretch! :D Yes, it will forever change him, but it may not all be for the worse. He should get support from others that have been through the same ordeal.
What is sad is that at this point we will have troops rotating there until 2006 at least. Many troops are getting orders to go BACK already. :( I think that would be hard to return again so soon.
DH is now a reservist and could get called at any moment. Reservist there must do a 12-18 month minimum now. They have lengthened their tours. :(

I am so glad he is coming home. My son was different when he came home. He had a real short fuse, and didn't sleep. It took about 6 months and a few trips to the doctor before he started feeling like his old self again. Now he is mostly the son I remember. I know he will never be exactly the same, but he is so much better now. Give him the time and space he will need, and as much help as he will accept. Some things are still coming out as to what all he saw and did. We just let him tell us what he wants to, when he is ready. Hope this helps a little. Good luck

I know you can hardly wait and I pray that he comes home soon!

Speaking from experience....it will be AWESOME!!!::yes::

Yep DH's orders were for 545 Days-we were told 3 months train up, 12 months in country and 3 months stand down. Train up is turning out to be 3 weeks but we are still told to expect 12 months in country and the rest for stand down. Active duty at MOB station is not so bad for us as it is close by but that 12 months overseas sounds like a 100 years right now

That is wonderful news!! You all must be so excited. Continued prayers for Titus with wishes that the time you have to wait until he returns to the US is short.

Wonderful news that they will be moving to Kuwait! My prayers are with Titus for a swift and safe return home and a full recovery.

Hooray for Titus! I look forward to the pictures of their reunion! :)
