I had sent an e-mail about the discontinuence of the bike & boat plan at WLV. Just got a call from Disney Executive Offices saying it was because of the change in types of boats, and the plan would be available again in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Unforunately, it doesn't help us right now since we'll be there next week, but it's good to know, and I appreciated the phone call.

That is great news!! I am hoping (fingers double crossed!) that it is re-instituted when we arrive in April!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, they will still have boats, but she called them Racers - a new model or type.

Great News!!! Sorry it won't be available for your visit.

EXCELLENT NEWS!!! I'm looking forward to our old routine of using the boats & bikes in December!

Glad to hear this! We are going in June and planned on getting the plan. Thanks for posting! :D

This is very good news!

Of course, I'm wondering what price they'll bring it back at?

I'm hoping it's still a good value.

Thanks for posting the update! :)

Just got a 'form letter' back from my e mail to Disney about this. Someone is supposed to call me, so maybe there will be more details then.

That's great news.

We will be staying at SSR in June. I know there are boats available for rent at DTD. Does anyone know if that plan was an option at this rental spot? If not,do you think it will become an option since SSR has moved in?

Thanks

DW and I with our four adult children are planning our first DVC vacation at OKW. If reinstated, could someone explain how the family boat and bike plan works. How much? For a family of six.?
What if any restrictions exist? Do you have to reserve this activity when you make your reservations?
thanks

I am not sure what the new plan will be but we used it in July and I can only describe what it used to be like. I foresee changes and I am not sure what they will be. here is a summary of the plan.

Cost $219 for 5 people. At this time in July you had unlimited use of pontoon boats, watermice, and regular bikes ( surray bikes not included) for the duration of your trip while staying at a Walt Disney Resort. Even though you may be at two different resorts consecutively, one contract was all you needed. You could rent at any marina that was offering this ( we stayed at BCV but rented from VWL). You had to come in every one-half hour to see if the boats were needed, if not they would let you stay out longer. Every group that you had go out, one had to leave a room key. I say this because sometimes the kids would have gone over before us to use the watermice and then my hubby and I would go over to take out a pontoon boat and we would have to leave a second room id.

you do not reserve ahead of time, you go to the marina whenever you want to start it and sign up and pay.

It was great if you had teenage kids, etc. My DH also loved the watermice but I didn't feel comfortable in them. So the contract we had was for our four 16 year old girls that we had and my husband. I was not able to use a boat by myself but if my husband took one out then I could go along, I enjoyed the pool and reading. I hope we see it back before our July trip, we are looking forward to using it again with our neighbors that are coming down with us. pirate:

jcanary

thank you for the info, sounds like a lot of fun, we were just talking about pontoon boats & racers to rent, but this sounds like a better deal ! i hope the price is about the same:sunny:

oh, i also wonder if there will be any blackout dates like holidays
because that is when we are going this year, during easter and christmas::yes::

jcanary did a great job explaining the plan. One thing I'd add is that it is not a DVC plan...it was offered to all WDW resort guests.

Also, it started out as a length-of-stay plan, regardless of how long, and during the summer last year it was switched to a 7 day plan maximum. Still a good deal.

I am so glad to hear that they may reinstate this plan. I've stayed at the VWL several times with my 3 children, but they are just now getting old enough to take advantage of the boat and bike activities. We rented bikes last year for a couple of hours and the kids loved it (my first time on a bike in about 20 years, but even I fared pretty well! ) We had been making our tentative plans about how and when we could start using the boats. Did I understand that if they have the plan available for 7 days you could use it even though your accomodations are split between two different resorts. We'll be at VWL for 7 nights then move to BCV for 7 nights. I would like to split it where we could use some of the plan while my husband joins us at the BCV.
