Good news for a change! Student teaching...

I just found out that I'm pretty much cleared to student teach at my local school district!

I was really worried about it. They were reluctant to place me there because my DS goes to the high school there, but they decided to do it anyway. Also, one of my good friends got placed there too!

I just tormented the daylights out of DS over it. I told him he'd have two sets of eyes watching him now. I also said, "When you see me in the hall, it'll be MRS. M___ to you!"

It's such a load off my mind. It was really important for me to be there for a few reasons -- the main one is that I'd be on the same holiday schedule as the kids, and another being the rising gas costs.

That's amazing! My last student teaching placement was at a wonderful school five minutes away from my home. I learned so much and I still keep in touch with my cooperating teacher! Plus it was nice not having to fight traffic after an exhausting day .

Knowing the school and some of the students should be a big benefit for you. Good luck

That's great!!! I know you're thrilled!!

When I started student teaching....my professor just told my entire class to go out & find a school that would take us for student teaching...& then to come back & let them know. We actually got to pick our school!!

I went right to the elem. school where I'd been a student for 7 years...I actually got to work with my former 2nd grade & 6th grade teachers who were still there!! It was wonderful...and also only a 5 minute walk from my house!

Thanks, guys! This took such a load off my shoulders. It's something I've been so worried about!

Princess Pooh, what grade did you student teach? Did your coop.teacher leave you alone for the most part, or did she spend a lot of time with you? I'm really hoping for mine to spend some time with me. We're left on our own soon enough.

Daisy, I can't believe your school was that relaxed. Ours is so picky about it. They won't let students teach at the school they attended, although I'd graduated 20 years ago, so it wasn't a problem. Then there was the whole thing with my son.

They won't tell us our placement until the week before school starts. Don't you find that strange? I'd like to have more notice than that, because it would be nice to find out what to prepare before then! I don't want to go in totally not knowing what to expect.
