I got a response back from them concerning what you can use the reward dollars for.

"Disney Dream Reward Dollars can be applied as payment toward a Disney Cruise Line reservation or to settle your onboard account with our Guest Services Team."

Looks like I'll be using the card after all.
:bounce:

Do you happen to know how long it takes for those reward $$ to appear on your c.card statement once you make the charge. My balance is due in May but if I need to, I may have to pay earlier in order to get the rewards dollars in time for our July cruise.

How did you get the repsonse? Did they send you an email? I have some time before my cruise and I was going to use this card to get the reward dollars for payment of onboard charges.

Thanks.

I e-mailed on the DCL website under feedback. I plan on printing out the response and taking it with me just in case....

I started using my card earlier this month and have received my first bill. The reward points accrue each month based on what you charge and are reflected at the bottom of the statement. From what I understand of the rewards program, if you want to use your card to pay off the balance of your cruise and use the points that you'll receive from that charge you'll have to allow yourself several weeks to receive the certificates in the mail. I believe that they will send you your reward certificates quicker but there is a charge for the faster service. If you pay off your balance in May you should have plenty of time (I think they said it could take up to 6 weeks) to receive your reward certificates for your July cruise. I would also hope that by May they have the kinks worked out of the system. It took two calls and two promised that my husbands credit card was already mailed out before we finally received via express mail.

I found that if you have questions they are extremely easy to deal with. Bank One has a group of customer service reps who are there just to answer questions about the Disney card. It seems the reps are trained like Disney employees because the ones I have dealt with are as sweet and accomodating as Disney cast memebers.

I also had to call BankOne about DH's card. They said there was a problem mailing out his card ? but they would send it out UPS today and he should have it in 2-3 days.

I'm a little confused. So you get points accrued every month. But they stay on your accounts until you request certificates to use them? And that takes about 6 weeks? Am I understanding?

Can these points be used at WDW to pay off your hotel bill, tickets and expenses in the parks as well? Want to make sure I am understanding so can plan correctly :)

This was the entire reply I received.

"Thank you for your e-mail.

I would assume that if you can use them toward payment of a cruise that they would be valid for hotel bill also. You may want to e-mail WDW and see what they say.

Sweetspot & Starwood, Thanks so much for the detailed info. I appreciate you taking the time to respond w/ the detailed info.

I also talked to them today, at the Disney Credit Card, they said to give them about two weeks to process vouchers. Our final payment is due at end of April, he said to charge it, wait to get the next bill, and then request the voucher. No problem using it to settle on-board account, etc.

I just called Bank One to find out where our second card is (it never arrived) and asked about using the reward dollars on DCL.

I was given conflicting info on if they can be used on DCL. I WAS TOLD NO, THEY CANNOT.

The very nice rep asked me to hold so she could check. I even mentioned that I heard that they could be used and she came back and said no. They can be used on all the above mentioned items that starwood mentioned...but CANNOT be used for payment towards a cruise or payment of your onboard account. She said if you booked a DCL vacation then you would get the 0 financing, but that is all for DCL.

So, the dilemma remains....DCL and Bank One really have to get their act together. DCL says they can....Bank One say they cannot. What do we all do now....?????

Thanks for the info Starwood. I'll believe what the DCL says and not the bank. And you can ignore the email I sent. I hadn't seen this post prior to emailing you. 231 days till my cruise!

so lets say Apr-Oct I charge $1,000 per month = $7,000 how much would that give me for credit on our Nov 8th cruise?

and can i or cant I get credit for paying off DVC on this card?

I believe if I have read the documents correctly that will get you 70.00.

Now to address the issue about using the reward dollars on the cruise--here is what has been released so far. When you redeem your reward dollars you must choose what type of redemption certificate that you want. There is a redemption certificate for the Disney Stores, online, and the parks. If you request a Disney Store reward certificate you cannot use it for the parks, and likewise if you choose a park one you cannot use it for the stores. That being said--the advertising material said that reward certificates would be able to be used on the ship--however at this time Bank One has not "invented" a cruise ship reward certificate yet. This is one of those things that has to be decided in advance. Now, I don't know if the cruiseline would accept the WDW certificates or not...but as of right now they CANNOT be used on the cruiseline. I hope that changes in the near future--especially since they did advertise that it could be....that email that Starwood received is the standard advertising that was done for the Disney Bank One Visa--

I really hope they get their stuff together and get the cruiseline added to the reward certificates soon!

Sooooo...obviously one hand at Bank One does not know what the other hand at Bank One is doing!!! I tried to tell the rep that I was pretty sure they could be used on DCL and she put me on hold for quite awhile so she could check it out.

I'll just wait until I get my statement in a few weeks and check back with them then...maybe they will be more organized by then.
