Well - The good news is I booked a Disney cruise for Oct 2006! The bad news is that means no trip to WDW in 2006. I took my DS(12) - just the two of us - last year, and now I want to make it an annual event.

I'm still waiting to schedule my (hopeful) Sept. 2005 trip. I plan to fly to SWA, and they don't have schedules past Sept 12 yet! And I have to have a room discount!

I'm going nuts! Is a Disney cruise worth giving up a trip to WDW?

Thanks for listening to my "mini-vent."

I would like to hear peoples opinions on this too. We would really like to do a 7 day cruise in June 2007 (when the baby is 3); but it would definitely mean giving up at least one year's trip to WDW. I don't know if I can do it! Then, I also wonder, if and when I go on the cruise will I be sad because I'm so close to WDW but not going there. Know what I mean?-Dana princess:

We took our (then) 11 year old DGD on the Disney cruise, and she said it was more fun than Disney World. In fact, we are taking her back to Disney World in June, and I felt like she was kind of disappointed it was the World instead of the cruise! :earsgirl:

I just returned this past january from 7 day eastern. my 4yr old dd had the time of her life. after the cruise, we spent 4 days in orlando. all she kept talking about was how much she loved the ship and that she would rather be on it than in wdw. we rebooked for next january and she mentions it to me at least 3times a week of how she can not wait to go back.

go to the cruise line forum to see more threads. that is how i decided if the cruise was the right thing to do. :cool1:

I've never done a cruise myself, but I know two people who have done it and they LOVED it!
Or you can split it up and do the land and sea! :) That way you get to do both.

We booked our first Disney 7 day cruise three years ago and had never been to WDW. We went to MK in mid November the Thursday before we cruised. The crowds were very small and we hardly had any waits BUT after going on the cruise I told DH that I would be very happy if I never saw WDW again as long as we could cruise once a year. :) The kids LOVE it. They get to have ALOT more interaction with the characters on the ship than we ever saw possible in the park. The most important thing was hardly any lines at all...no waiting to get a table at dinner...or lunch or breakfast either. :) :) :) I actually got to sit down & relax & not feel like we were missing something. DD was 3 yo and was in awe of Cinderella most of all. Cinderella was quite touched by her reaction to meeting her & whenever we saw her on the ship...which was at least once a day...she would stop what she was doing (walking down the hall on the way to a photo meet & greet or whatever) and call DD & DS by name. She knelt down on the ground to look them in the eye and asked them about their day & what they were getting ready to do.

We went to MK for another day before our cruise last year & enjoyed it and have two days planned at MK & MGM after our next one, along with a last minute trip in June with 2 days at the parks & possibly one at one of the water parks. The highlight of our trips is still The Magic. :)

they are two different experiences. both are wonderful in their own right. the cruise is wonderful, not as hectic as the parks. very relaxing. yes, i would think not going to the parks, but the cruise instead is a good trade off. it is still disney! the characters are onboard; not all of them, but definitely mickey/minnie. go you will wonder what took you so long to get on that ship! :earboy2:

We have been on 3 DCL cruises. 1 3-night and 2-7night. We would only do the 7-night again. It was by far the best family vacation that we have ever had. We had tons of family time (dinners, pools, beaches, shows) and we had lots of alone time with just my DH and myself

We asked my DDs if they want to go to the parks or on the cruise at the end of this year and they screamed "THE CRUISE!!!" Unfortunately we are not going on the cruise this year as we have decided to go to WDW because our DS(5) has never been to the parks. Now my girls are pouting that they HAVE to go to WDW and not on the cruise :sad2:

You will love the more relaxed feel of your trip and the pampering is soooo nice. Enjoy some of the adult only areas as Disney really makes an effort to keep the kids out so the parents/grandparents can get a break. It was great and you will love it!!! :flower:
