I found this on the Port Everglaces website.
Port Everglades Fully Operational

09/26/2004 11:10:48 AM
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2004 (11 A.M.)-- Port Everglades is fully operational following an inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard and Port Everglades Pilots. There were no damages to facilities landside or waterside.

Delivery of petroleum products via fuel trucks continues as it has throughout the hurricane.

Cruise passengers scheduled to sail out of Port Everglades today or yesterday should contact their cruise lines for updated information.

Looks like Port Everglades will be fine for tomorrow for those sailing then. Now how and when the folks get to the port is another question.

Reine...have you heard from DD??? Where exactly is The Magic??
I've lost track............

The sun is out here now....the wind is still blowing...but it's stopped raining.....need to run the dogs out before it starts again....

Robyn called on Friday night as the Magic was docking in Port Canaveral. She and the ship are fine. As the folks who got off the ship have posted, the ship was sailing out without guests and would pick up the guests for the 9/25 - now 9/27 cruise on Monday in Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale). After the guests debarked the ship was sailing south to safer waters.

I didn't get any specifics but looking at the radar and weather forecasts it looks like the area south of the Keys would be a good place for a ship to be and still be able to get back to Port Everglades on Monday.

I'm sure the crew will do extra cleaning and planning so the Magic will be sparkling and all ready for the guests who embark on Monday for their MAGICal if slightly shorter cruise.

For anyone interested http://www.wftv.com/index.html has a streaming video webcast of their coverage so those of use NOT in Florida can follow the news. Pigsty333 recommended it and I've found it very informative and more personal than the Weather Channel.

Please note that check in will not longer be at Port Everglades -- see my earlier post for details.

I can understand why they can't check in at Port Everglades. There are scheduled to be SEVEN cruise ships in port on Monday in addition to the 2 that sail in and out daily according to Harbor Master's Report

If you figure 1000 to 2000 people per ship, that's A LOT OF FOLKS.
