Good Neighbor Hotels

Looking for recommendations on a decent Good Neighbor Hotel, within short walking distance to DL. In checking a little, The Tropicana doesn't look too bad. Does anyone have experience at any of them....or can recommend any?

Hi! My friend and I just stayed at Howard Johnson this past weekend (and my friend has stayed there a few times before). It's usually the hotel we pick if we can't stay on property. It's very basic, of course, but it's clean and they've been doing a lot of fixing-up lately. They recently replaced all their mattresses and the beds are very comfy! Also, they've got 2 pools, and one has very cool theming, with great play areas, which is great if you've got kids with you (and, ya know, if it's warm enough to swim when you're there). It's not, like, right across the street, but definitely within walking distance.

Just so you are aware DLR's Good Neighbor Hotel's is just a marketing term and partnership where you can book though Disney to get a package deal. It rarely gets you a good rate at those hotels.

I would look at www.hotels.com and look at the map view on it to see where they are. Then you can see a lot of reviews and hotel overview as well.

The 2 clean and close hotels that I like are the Tropicana and the Desert Inn.

I've stayed at the Tropicana & it was nice, basic rooms....the beds a little hard but no real complaints.
This last trip we finally tried the HoJo since it came so highly recommended. We LOVED it!! The rooms were spacious (we had a Premium Disney View room) & the beds you melted into each night!! The grounds are beautiful & Castaway Cove is a must for kids!! I have lots of pics of the HoJo in my TR, the link is below. Fairfield Inn is across the street facing Tomorrowland. There is a Mimi's and another good inexpensive restaraunt in the parking lot. Free parking. Nice Marriott beds!
