Good Neighbor Hotels and Prices

We just got back from the Anaheiom Plaza too. We had a king size bed room that came with a fridge (nice size too) but no microwave. We called and asked because I thought all the rooms had them which was my mistake and they brought one for us within 5 minutes. Very prompt. The coffee maker was in the bathroom and was 4 cups. I agree that if it smelled like anything it was cleaning supplies. The hot tub was HOT but nice to sit in for a bit in the middle of the day and relax the muscles. :) I must say it is as far as I would want to walk (which we did) and I would not want to walk that far with kids. We had a rental car for the last of 4 nights but was not charged parking for it although we did mention it on check in. We had prepaid through Orbitz and oot the room for $55.xx a night with a special. There was no in room internet, even by wireless. My hubby was less than impressed with the tv which was old and pretty small compared to everywhere else he has stayed. Overall I would probably try to get someplace a bit closer if staying that many days but for just a couple and at that price I would do it again no problem.

I really don't find the walk to be bad at all. I mean, when I think about how much walking I'm doing anyway, it's not that much extra. The walk from the back of Disneyland over to California Screamin' is farther (at least a mile.) I think from the hotel to the security check point is less than a half mile. Not too shabby.

I agree the walk isn't bad but we found that by the third day going back in the evening it started looking long. It was I think the eigth time we'd walked it and had done a lot of walking in the parks obviously. I just think for little kids it would be a bit much for 4 or more days. I should add that I'll bet we got to our hotel faster than others who took the tram to thier car and drove. It was actually really nice having a few days with no driving at all. If price is a major factor for your trip (as it was ours since it was completely last minute) I would recommend Anaheim Plaza. It was clean and walkable with lovely pillows. What else is needed? :)

Did the furniture in your room look newer? When we were there last December they were putting a lot of new furniture in rooms. I was wondering if most rooms were redone now.

It didn't strike me as being new but it also didn't stand out as beaten up so I'm not sure. The tv was definately older and probably actually looked smaller than it was because it was just sitting on top of a long dresser that was actually a little shorter than the bed.

Ruthie, if the rates are reasonable, I'd go with the Candy Cane Inn. I've stayed there often, there's always a convenient place to park (for free), the breakfast is great, the shuttle is great if you're tired of walking, and it's just as short of a walk as Hojo--plus you don't have to cross Harbor.

The rooms are really nice, with VERY comfy beds. There are fridges in all the rooms, and microwaves in the premiums. (Although once we got a microwave in a deluxe. I think they upgraded us.)

I've also heard some good things lately about the Park Vue Inn. This one used to get bad reviews, but they're under new ownership and have recently renovated. Check tripadvisor.com or mouseplanet.com for recent reviews.
