Good hotels on the way to WDW - need room for 5

This year, we decided that instead of stopping at a KOA and using the camper on the way to Disney, we would just stay at a hotel instead. I was looking at different hotels on line and keep running into the "Maximum 4 people" rule!! Anyone know of a nice hotel that would allow 2 adults and 3 kids to stay in one room??

Embassy Suites allows 5, as does Holiday Inn.

I think Hampton Inns do. Just get a cot. We haven't yet come across a hotel that wouldn't rent us a cot. Granted we don't stay in a ton of hotels, but each hotel we've asked about it has let us. Definitely look into Hampton Inns. They're consistantly clean and nice. You can also get some good deals.

I think many hotels don't "count" kids in the limit. When I was growing up we always stayed 5 in a room - my parents, my 2 sisters, and myself. Now, not to start a moral argument or try to cheat on any rules, but if it is just your immediate family and you can fit in 2 beds, I would go for it. I can't imagine that a hotel would actually want kids in a room alone anyway. I feel that the limits are more to prevent huge groups of adults from staying in one room than to make families of 5 split up. You could call the hotel and check if it makes you feel better, but I'm pretty sure it would not be a big deal.

Actually, we have run into many interstate hotels that did not have rollaway beds available. Lately, we have started traveling witih a sleeping bag with us because, even when available, there's usually a fee for the rollaway. Since it's usually late at night when we stop, we tend to not be too picky about how we sleep. My experience is that most will let you sleep five to a room if you can arrange how you're going to sleep. When asked how many people, though, never say "five." Say "two adults and three children." Could make a big difference. You also may have a different experience with booking a reservation ahead of time than we do late at night with the desk attendant.

We stayed in a Hampton Inn with five (3 adults and 2 children) and didn't have a problem not having reservations. And the cot didn't cost extra. Don't know if it does now. I do second the Hampton Inn suggestion though. We have never been disappointed in one.

My kids and I stopped at a Holiday Inn Express in Savannah on our trip to WDW last summer. There were lots of motels at the State Route 204 exit on I-95. My copy of Micro$oft Streets and Trips is a bit outdated and only lists the La Quinta Inn at that stop. The room that we ended up with had enough beds to comfortably sleep 6 people (2 queens and a queen sized pull out sofa in a separate room).

If Savannah is too far, we've also stopped in Walterboro (South Carolina) in the past. You might check over on the Budget Board to see if anyone has suggestions on where to stay on the drive to WDW.

We stayed at a Comfort Suites in NC that had two beds and a fold out couch. Got it for $64 on Expedia. My experience is that sometimes you can't book for more than 4 online, but if you call you will be able to.

Springhill Suites by Marriott have rooms with two queen beds and a pull out sofa for the fifth person. Their rooms are usually reasonably priced and they have a complimentary breakfast.

We've never had to get more than one room for our family of 5. Of course, one kid usually has to sleep on the floor but both my sons would rather do this than sleep with their bed hogging sister.

Are you taking 95? I would suggest not making reservations but stop at the welcome center for the state you're mostly likely to stay the night, get a coupon book and then call about an hour before you want to stop. Most of our trips, we'll just stop and get a room for the night. There are a ton of hotels. My current fave is Country Inn and Suites. ( Beware though, just because it has a chain name doesn't mean its going to be a nice place.) We've driven to Florida five times and there was only once we could not get a hotel room right away. There was a big college football game and every hotel room was booked for miles. That's why its good to stop around 4 pm, just in case.

It's good to think about what things are important to look for in a hotel. I like having a pool and a hot tub. Having a resturant close is good too.

We're a family of 5. We always drive to Disney and stay overnight at Hampton Inn. It fits all 5 of us (with a cot) and we get the free continental breakfast in the morning.
