I'm at a loss to explain just how insanely stupid some people are.

A school in Spaokne WA wants to ban kids from playing Tag, because of fear of injury and coersion. Citting "wanting to avoid injuries and lawsuits," the principal of Adams Elementary School in Spokane has banned Tag. :rolleyes2

There is no direct link to the video, but if you go to FoxNews.com (sorry for the pain this will cause the Left ;) ) and click on the "Video" tab at the top of the screen, you will be brought to the page where this video is located.

No wonder this country is headed somewhere hot in a handbasket... we all played tag as kids. World peace, here we come :thumbsup2

When you go east of the mountains in Washington, all sensibilities go out the window. :rotfl:

Seriously, what is wrong with those people? Our kids need more time running on the playground playing tag, not less.

Sounds like someone has been sqeezing the admin. penny until is screams. Must have been trying to cut down on insurance premiums this time! :teeth:

Well it seems these days that a chosen few parents will sue for a person looking at their child cross-eyed, so this doesn't surprise me. Sad, so sad.

my kids are champion tag-players.

If their schools try to ban it, I will be forced to sue. :smooth:

I guess I would assume the kids were having specific tag playing incidents occuring and had to disallow it. I would encourage my kids to find something else to play. I would find it odd if they actually used the word "ban" and assume that's a word some angry parent used?

Then they wonder why some kids have weight issues. :sad2:

No kidding. Maybe they will keep them all inside and they can play 'virtual tag' on the computer. That way no one gets hurt.

I heard about this on the radio today.

I can understand banning dodgeball and battleball (I refused to play once and got a zero for the day, the teachers did nothing about the boys who would whip the ball at our heads). But tag is harmless. Coersion? What someone is playing hopscotch and gets tagged and they are being forced to play? That didn't happen in my school. You would just go "fine I'm it" and continue to do what you were doing and let the knuckleheads stand around.

They actually restricted tag at my son's elementary school. They had good reason. Last year they installed some really cool new playground equipment. Since school started this year at two 5th graders have had scarey incidients from clunking their heads on the equipment during tag games. Not playing tag on the equipment, but around it. The latest incident resulted in a momentarily unconscious child being transport to the hosptial by ambulance. The school still allows the kids to play tag but only on the infield of the track.

Actually I use to think tag was harmless too until I got called to the school last year and had to take my DS to the emergency room with a huge gash in his head - another kids teeth collided with my DS's head and my Ds had to have a couple staples in his head from the other kids teeth that gashed into his head - pretty scary really. Boys can get pretty rough playing an innocent game of tag - For some reason boys have to play extreme tag, so yes I can see that it may be banned at schools one day.
