So, we were all set for ASmovies for DS's first trip. His all time favorite movie is Toy Story, so I bucked up for the preferred room and requested those buildings. Then, I got a Disney Visa offer in the mail! I called, and they were able to apply the discount, but we had to switch to ASsports (or music). We were on a really tight budget, so I couldn't pass it up. But, I'm feeling guilty about not staying near Buzz and Woody. (DS is 2 1/2).

Any thoughts? Anybody with little boys who get a kick out of Sports? Also, any thoughts on sports would be great. I had really done my homework on Movies, but had to switch to Sports spur of the moment.

Silly, I know, but I want his first trip to be perfect (yeah, I know, its never perfect and they'll be meltdowns, etc., but you know what I mean)... even if he won't remember the details.

:confused3

You made a good financial decision to save money to be used in another way. You are still going to Disney. Go over to visit Buzz and Woody without any guilt.

In the future you will be faced with many decisions for your family, remember you are the parent. Parents are not meant to be a child's best friend, but the example of responsibility and maturity showing a child a good example for their adulthood. Of course, having lots of fun at Disney is great for the family too.

Don't worry about switching resorts. First of all -- if he doesn't see it he won't know he's missing it. I've stayed at All Star Sports twice - the theming will appeal to a boy.

Also, you can search out the Toy Story characters in the parks. He should get a kick out of that. Have a great trip and try to not feel guilty about trying to save money.

Walk on over and take his picture by Woody and Buzz. No rules against touring the other resort.

I bet he won't mind at all, my kids all play an instument so music was fun. I think any other hotel in disney would have been very exciting too.

You did the right thing to save some money on the trip.

Don't worry. Buzz and Woody are found in the parks quite easily.

Besides, at 2.5 will he really notice??

Thanks everybody. I know I made a good choice as far as saving the $, and that its important to be the "responsible" parent. I think its mostly the quick decision that thru me for a loop. I'm a stresser and I know it!

Thanks for the support. I'm feeling better already.

Just make a trip over to Movies and visit. We love visiting the other resorts. Disney theming is so great. The Toy Story area is great for picture taking, with Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep, RC, etc. You'll also see Buzz and Woody in the parks, especially MGM. And definitely go eat at Pizza Planet at MGM!

Don't worry about it. He'll love the football field area to run around on and climb on the x's and o's. You can still take an hour or so and visit ASMu so you can take pictures around the icons there too. Plus you can use any All Star pool so if the theming at another pool is more to his liking, you can go and use them.

We have stayed at the All Star Sports and my boys loved it!!! Its very cool!! Good for you saving some bucks!!:thumbsup2

Be sure to take him to the Studios (not sure if the name will be changed from MGM to Hollywood when you take your trip or not) and have DS's picture taken with them. Woody stands in front of Al's Toy Barn and Buzz is standing next to his rocket. DS will probably like interacting with them and remember that more then he would just standing next to a statue of them.

Don't feel bad!

Here's two reasons: (1) The preferred rooms at ASMovies aren't in the Toy Story section. Fantasia is the preferred area, so your previous reservation wouldn't have gotten you into the Toy Story section anyway. We learned this one the hard way back in 2004. (2) The resort was pretty beat up on our last trip. Maybe this has changed, but I'd be surprised.

Enjoy Sports, and take your DS over to Movies for lunch one day, if you were looking forward to seeing his reaction when he encountered an enormous Buzz Lightyear.

Have a good trip! :wizard:
