We love Tusker House and Animal Kingdom but, it will be closed during our upcoming visit. We have actually never been to any of the other counter-service restaurants and don't know where we should go instead. We would like to pick a place that had good food but also offers indoor seating. We look forward to the air conditioning break on a hot day. Any recommendations?

Lisa, I thought the only CS, was either flame tree or Tusker house. I could be wrong, but I dont think so. I never had either. But, I was looking so forward to Tusker house. Alas, I wont be having that, this trip. So, I guess it will be flame tree. Outside in the hot sun in August, nonetheless. Check allearsnet.com. You can check out if I am wrong about the Cs resteraunts, as I am not quite sure.

We didn't like tusker house, but we plan on trying flame tree this year. Also we had the pretzels with hot cheese it was soooo good..:hippie:

Thanks for the info. I have checked allearsnet but, it doesn't seem to indicate if seating in inside or out. I know there is a pizza place also but, don't know the seating arrangements.

I would say an alternative to Tusker House is Flame Tree. I believe Flame Tree only has outdoor seating.

You know what you are getting with the Restaurantosaurus (McDonalds) and Pizzafari (Poor man’s Pizza Hut mini) so if that suits your tastes go for those. Tusker House was far and away the best counter service in our opinion, but Flame Tree was easily #2. It does not have indoor seating, but the seating it does have (lots of shaded areas by the water) is actually a fairly good spot to cool off.

Do you know of flame tree has any indoor seating?

They don't have indoor seating, but they do have quite a bit of seating under cover-so the sun/rain won't be coming down on you-it's basically a roof w/ poles :)

We love Flame Tree BBQ and I actually can't get DH to try any other CS restaurants at AK anyway.... :rotfl:

Hey,

You might consider heading over to the AK resort to eat. It's a short ride and the resort is beautiful!

We did this in August. It was a nice break from the heat. The menu at the CS is delightful. I had the fried shrimp which was good and zebra domes! Yummy!

After our meal we checked out the gift shop and headed back to the park.

So sad Tusker house is changing, we never got to try it!!

Have a great time on your trip!

I love the seating at Flame Tree. We've been there in June and were very comfortable. We follow the path all the way down to the water and have a great view of Everest.

Flame Tree is outdoor seating. My DS and I ate there last trip. To be honest it wasn't very good. The BBQ was greasy as were the fries, but they had just opened and FT gets a lot of very good reviews so mabye we just caught them on a bad day.

Pizzafari is pretty decent and the seating is inside. If you go early is's usually not too crowded. In fact on our last 2 visits we have had the rear dining room almost to ourselves.

well, there is supposed to be a new Asian themed restaurant, Yak and Yeti that is opening "summer 2007". It's supposedly will have both a table service portion and a quick service. So I assume that's how they are able to close down Tusker House at that time?

Pizzafari also empties out if you want a late lunch (had a whole room to ourselves last October)

We love Flame Tree Barbeque. Their food is phenomenal and they have a nice big shady area for you to enjoy your food. It's one of our favorite CS restaurants in WDW.

Just curious, how long did it take for you to go to the AK lodge and back? Maybe, we'll give their CS a try.
