I am not familiar with any counter rest. at DS. We're doing nicer restaurants every night, so it will be counter service for us at lunch. ANything good there? Trying to avoid more fried chicken fingers and french fries.

We like Pizza Planet for counter service at MGM. IMO, the pizza has improved quite a bit over the past few years and for some reason their salads always seem to hit the spot. Of course the kids would like going there even without the food, because of the arcade. ;)

Good Counter Lunch at Studios
:confused3
Well, there is counter service. Good is another problem. ;) Fair, yes. GOOD. :scratchin
If Good means Large Portions of Over Priced Fast Food and Watered Down Drinks in a Noisy Atmosphere, then the Commissary or Back Lot is "good".
Sci Fi does have a decent lunch. And Prime Time is good for lunch. But they are sit down eateries.
Starring Roles has a much more varied section that they use to, since it use to be just breakfast rolls.

I second the vote for Backlot Express. That's usually where we end up if we don't have a ps for Prime Time or Hollywood and Vine. I think they have wraps and things besides chicken fingers and burgers, although the fixins' bar for the burgers is huge! Kind of like Pecos Bill's at MK, and usually well stocked. The only thing I would tell you is stay away from the ABC Commissary......

Is the Fixin' Bar at Back Lot still large? I thought they did away with a lot of it.
I don't recall it having sauteed mushrooms and the like for some time. But I could be wrong.

Tee hee :earboy2:

I also agree with the Back Lot as a choice for counter service. The kids really liked it.

I agree about the "fair" counter food. I think mgm has the worst counter food of any park. Back Lots is my pick. For some reason the pizza place always smells like throw up to me.

I like Pizza Plant the Best. It's nothing special, but it will hold you over for a couple of hours at least. It is basically the same pizza that you can get at every WDW counter service restaurant.

I personally am not a fan of any of the table service restaurants at MGM. I do however like the food at ABC and the Backlot quite a bit. We liked Pizza Planet, but mostly because of the LGM's that were all over the place....and the arcade.....ok, we admit that we are large toddlers. :earboy2: Maggie

We just got back and daughter and I enjoyed a great Sesame Chicken Salad at backlot express and they had a really good peach tart also.

It is hard to find good counter service at MGM. If I had to pick one though I would pick Backlot Express.

Nothing really spectacular at MGM. We like Pizza Planet best - as far as just something to hold you over til dinner. Pizza is decent and salad is fresh, for the most part.

Also, over near Tower of Terror there is a Turkey leg stand (they are so gross . . . ) that sells decent hot dogs.
