Well, we're back from BWI and reality has set in. Boo hoo.

BWI was a very nice hotel but we still prefer BC. Check-in last Sunday about 5 p.m. was very fast -- about 10 minutes. I had called the previous Thursday to make sure they had our ressies linked. Good thing I did because the ressie for one night had my name misspelled. We got all of our room requests except for connecting rooms and that was due to a computer glitch. We stayed in 2321 and 2323, non-smoking and garden views, although 2323 really looked at side of 2-story courtyard building.

When we first checked into 2321 we thought it had a slight odor, a soapy, cleaning fluid type smell but it wasn't bad and we didn't notice it the next day. Hallway had a slight mousy smell at the area it makes a turn.

Luna Park pool was okay but there are very few lounge chairs and tables around the pool and they have signs up that chairs are not permitted in certain areas. We had a hard time finding chairs that were in the sun most of the day. Quiet pool was nice. Hot tub was very hot. Neither pool was very crowded during our stay.

We used the health club once during our stay. Equipment was very good and staff very friendly.

Proabably the biggest disadvantage to staying at the BWI for me was the fact I couldn't get iced tea in my refillable mug until after the Spoodles take-out window or the pool bar was open. The Bakery only has hot tea.

Since we were using our free nights from purchasing BCV, we thought BWI was okay. We were glad we stayed there instead of the Poly because we used the hot tub almost every night. It's not a resort we would want to stay at again.

Bus service to MK was very fast and efficient. We noticed coming back from MK and DD that they sometimes have separate busses to Swan & Dolphin, Y&BC, and BWI. We used the S&D bus coming back from MK and walked across the bridge to the BWI. The bus we took back from DD only went to BWI.

If anyone has any questions, please ask.

Donna

All I can say is I feel your pain.... the first week after a trip is a BIG letdown!!!

Good to hear you had a good time even though you didn't like the resort too much.... You'll enjoy many years at the BCV's!!

Please explain the "free nights from purchasing BCV".
Is that an offer that has expired?

This was an incentive made to people who purchased early on into Disney Vacation Club's Beach Club Villa's (which are opening in July) The offer expired on April 30th I believe...

I feel your pain too. We returned on May 10th. I was just able to start playing the Disney music again in the car this weekend.....

Congratulations on your BCV purchase!

What was it that made you prefer the BC over the BWI? anything specific? We are considering a stay there next
year.

Disney-Kim, we like the BC better because we really like SAB. We usually plan a couple of pool days where we stay most of the day. At SAB, there is less shade around the pool, so we can get lounge chairs in the sun + there are more tables with umbrellas so my DH can have his shade. And B&C is right there to get refills or something to eat. We didn't think the pool bar at BWI's Luna Park had many food choices. We also liked having the laundry right by the quiet pool. BWI's laundry isn't by the pool. We like sitting in the swings at night on the beach at BC better than being on the BW. At night the BW is too busy. Although the BWI was very pretty, decor of rooms is predominantly blue which is my favorite color, we really prefer the theming, color scheme, and more relaxed atmosphere at BC. We like the restaurants better at BC. Character breakfast at Cape May Cafe is great and so is the Yachtsman steakhouse. We like Art the greeter at the BC and the ambience of the lobby. And, my DD says the BC smells better.

Don't get me wrong, BWI is a beautiful resort but we still prefer the BC.

Boy do I know how you feel! :( While I haven't recently returned from "the World" I will NOT be getting there this year :( and that can be just as upsetting :)

But thanks for the report. I do have one question; when we stay at the BWV's (DVC home resort) the lounge chairs were surrounding the entire pool and there were many tables available on both sides. In addition, behind the pool, adjacent to the shrubs they have chairs in direct sun. I'm wondering if they tend not to put out as many chairs as they do in the summer. But then again, this should have been a "busy" time.

Well, hope you get back to "reality" soon. I personally find that hitting these boards kinda helps! :) Welcome home....

Thanks, Linda! The only side they have lounge chairs and tables is on the one end near the bathrooms and by midafternoon we were in the shade. We tried to move lounge chairs closer to pool and they made us move them back even though there was still room to walk around. It just seemed small to us because we are used to SAB.

donmil723 - that's definately not how things are during the summer. I'm sorry that they didn't have the pool area set up like I've seen it. I know now where they had the chairs. I can understand now why this wasn't to your liking. Wouldn't have been to mine either.

I see you bought into the BCV. Congratulations! Do you own anywhere else??
