After the shock of over $13K for the PC cruise, we have decided to pass and stay at Universal in January.:banana:

While I would love to do the cruise just cannot bring myself to pay that much money. We found a great deal for a US package.

We have never stayed onsite before. Are there any great little secret areas, activities or restaurants we should make sure to check out? I am really looking forward to a nice relaxing trip and the great food they have at Universal/city walk. Now I just hope it is not too cold to check out the pools at least one day.

You did say Royal Pacific right? That is where I usually stay as well, although I actually prefer the Portifino, but the RPR is more economical, and really just as nice as the Portifino.

To answer your question, yes there are cool areas to hide or whatever. :lmao: The RPR actually has lots, you'll just have to explore to find them all, here are some of mine. There is a beach area (not the pool beach area) but just kind of beyond that on the actual lagoon. There are lawn chairs and stuff around there and it is not technically hidden, but I never saw anyone hanging out there. That was my officialy "smoking hole" kind of place so I wouldn't disturb anyone, but cool spot to get away and relax. Plus you have a cool view of the lagoon and the Howard Hughes airplane that is sitting in the lagoon.

There is a long walking trail from the RPR into the Citywalk, where you will emerge at Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville. Very cool spots along the walk and the walk itself is usually pretty secluded. There is also kind of a pavilion kind of thing at the RPR but I can't remember how to describe to you where it is exactly. Those are the primary spots.

Just make sure you spend a lot of time at both Islands of Adventure and the main park. Many don't realize it, but IOA is actually the best park at least IMO.

BTW best restaurant by far Mythos inside IOA, Jimmy Buffetts for great casual bar food, and Tchoup Choup at RPR for more elegant dining. But Mythos is awesome, only down side is they close early usually so check their times.

Margaritaville is great. We also really enjoy Finnegans in US. They have really great food and we have never had to wait.

You are more then welcome to visit the other resorts and use there pools while staying on-site.Hard Rock has A great pool and do try The Kitchen for dinner. Its our new fav,the food and atmosphere is great. At PBH is another great place for food and pool hopping.Note, all pools are heated at all 3 resorts. But as far as eats I always give this site, tho outdated,to everyone for the sake of what they got to offer.Hope this helps!!
