All my tops are becoming disposable. Wash once, gentle cycle and hang to dry and it's nearly unrecognizable by the time it's dry. Pure trash! I've tried so many different brands and found that paying more doesn't necessarily get better quality these days. So, what's a good brand you've found?

White House Black Market. I shop the sales and use percentage off coupons. I can't pay full price for their clothes. I will go through every store in the mall and not find anything I like for the price, but when I go to WHBM I like almost everything in the store! Great quality!

My favorites are Karen Scott (Macy's and eBay ) and Croft and Barrow. Another is tantrums but that's from a few years ago, bought at Steinmart.

I have good luck with JM and Karen Scott at Macy's, Croft and Barrow at Kohl's and Rafaella at Carson's and Lord & Taylor.

Most of my tops are from Loft, White House Black Market, Banana Republic and Athleta. I've had some for years.

Dressy tops lately have been Worthington brand from JCPenney. Camisoles and shrugs are from Lane Bryant (outlet if possible plus sale). Casual/knit tops usually JCP (Worthington, St Jophns Bay), Belk (Kim Rogers, New Directions - their private brands), Hamrick's (a small local chain, some of their brands plus they have sales on Ruby Rd collections). Used to get soem stuff from Macy's but their plus size is next to nothing locally now.

I only put stuff in the dryer just long enough to knock out the wrinkles. If it is silky type material, it goes straight on a hanger.

EDIT: I do buy summer cotton tshirt/sleeveless shirts form Walmart. They (all brands) all shrink, so I don't want to spend much on them.

I always had good luck with most brands at Macy's. I've heard people talk about Chico's all the time, so I just looked. Definitely on the expensive side, and what is with the sizes? I might be able to fit in a shirt, but I have a 24" waist, and it doesn't even go that low. :/

I don't have a particular brand. I buy tons of different brands and I never really have this problem, OP. It might help to let us know what it is that YOU are buying. For tops/dressy blouses that aren't horribly expensive, Target's "Who What Wear" line is actually really nice. I've bought 3 work blouses from them. Got one on today with my White House Black Market skirt. Though I'm not a huge fan of Target's long sleeve T-shirts or thin sweaters.

Loft. I have tops and sweaters from there that I purchased 5+ years ago and they're still in excellent condition.

Ann Taylor Loft or Lucky brand. I quit shopping at Kohls because everything seemed to be disposable when buying there. I took back so many purchases because they shrank after the first washing.

LL Bean and Lands End have always served me well. I recently had 20% off at LL Bean and 30% off at Lands End coupons or codes.

Almost everything I own is from WHBM, Ann Taylor (not Loft which is not as high quality) or Banana Republic. Almost everything lasts, most for years and years unless it's worn a lot a lot. Certainly nothing is ruined from a wash and if that happened I'd take it back, I think they'd all accept such a return. Ann Taylor in particular has amazing online sales. It is good though to know what size fits for each brand before doing a big online purchase.

I know people said croft and barrow, but I stopped buying those because they were always shot after a few washes.

I agree with LL Bean and Lands end. A little pricey for a tee shirt at 22 dollars but with a coupon code and the fact that they last forever it's worth it. I just ordered 5 new colors for our upcoming disney trip.

I also like Gap, but I find the sizes to run small. Even an extra large is on the small side IMO.

I stopped buying clothes there also. Got burned on too many things. Just kind of like shapeless sweaters that didn't look good after a delicate washing.

I have had very good luck with Apt 9 brand At Kohls. they are polyester tops that stay looking good for years. I wash on delicate cycle as I do for all our clothes and just dry for about 20 minutes and hang up.

I like International Concepts (INC) from Macy's. You can get them really cheap if you shop the clearance racks
