I would say the Stoneheart trilogy by Charlie Fletcher. A kid breaks a sculpture, which causes him to end up in a parallel layer of London, where all the statues and sculptures move, and are at war with each other.
It really depends on what kind of books you like to read.
Thrilling/sad/provacative books, definately check out Jodi Picoult's books. I've read all but 5, not counting her latest one, and they're absolutely amazing. So check her out.
Chick lit, I prefer Meg Cabot. Her books are campy and fun.
Sci/fi, if you can order from the barnes and noble website or amazon, please, please, PLEASE try to check out Crimson Shards by Kim Pisaturo. Kim was a good friend of mine who passed away almost a year ago, and it was her dream to have her book published...I'm in the middle of it, and it's amazing, it truly is. All the money goes to her scholorship fund, so PLEASE try to check it out if you can!
Cindy ella by robin palmer. (She also wrote Geek Charming and something about red riding hood-I forget the name-which I am yet to read)
Its a modern day spinoff. I loved it.
