I posted this on another thread a few moments ago, thought I would share/ask in a separate thread too............

I am using Alamo for a 12/1-12/8 trip, standard size (Malibu or similar). Using a 'Sunpromo' ID code and AU2729MJW upgrade (one car level) and it defaults to include both the insurance, CDW Full and Extended Protection, as well as 'return fuel at any level' option. Total cost, $204.11, all taxes and fees.

The rate sounds about average. As long as the codes are good, you should be fine. We usually rent through Alamo, but we booked with Dollar for our November trip. No matter what we tried, Alamo rates were always higher. We haven't seen Orlando listed on many last minute deals.

I just tried your codes for our Dec. trip. It stated that the code was invalid. When I looked up the specials, the code seems to expire 11/22. Did you write Sunpromo for the ID?

This may have been true this morning but I just checked our dates (11/20-11/30) and the rates now are outrageous. This morning we could get a standard for $214, now that rate is $380. Glad we booked that lower rate several days ago. We were using the Walmart code.

I'm going to have check out what it would give me, we are going from Nov 12-22...I don't want the car for that long but would love to see the rates and get a good deal.

SUNPRO may be a company code used for its employees. You usually don't get insurance and fees and fuel all included in a regular contract ID that most people can use. These codes are usually for employees of certain companies or from other countries that have to have the rental car insurance.
I would love to use it cause it brings my rental down over $200. and includes the insurance but I don't know if it's worth the risk if I have an accident and found out I wasn't entitled to use this code. Then my credit card insurance wouldn't cover me either because I didn't decline the car rental insurance waiver.
I would like to know a little more about this code before using it. I know the SUNPROMO code is for anyone but it doesn't give as good a price as I can get using my Costco code. :confused3:confused3

i won't chance the LDW issue, nor will I try to slip thru a code im not eligible to use with them @ MCO, as they've asked to see my AAA id in the past (with a res tied into QS account no less).

I thought the sunpromo was associated w/corporate ID #7014667:confused:

OP i got a very good rate ($157xx) on alamo last night, posted in Dec. rate thread

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2231289

I received this code in my email save 15% off sunpromo code
If I recall, I think that is where it came to me. I was initially thinking Mary's site, but now think email, probably from Alamo direct. Not 100% sure though. I do know it has been a repetitive one I have seen for quite a few years now though.

But are SUNPROMO and SUNPRO the same? SUNPROMO does not work, but SUNPRO does work.

I tried those codes, for me, raised my price up to over $300. Thanks for the tip though.

yikes!

i was curious & ran my info

for my dates & intermediate w/$25 coupon code, when i type in sunpromo...

corporate id indicated as XXXXXXX:confused:
rate is $220.53
no LDW coverage

typing in sunpro...

corporate id again is XXXXXXX
rate is $240.30
LDW is included

so im thinking that sunpro is a 'specific' corporate code or perhaps non-us customer, not a general one:confused3

anybody else plug it in & see what happens for their dates?popcorn::

SUNPRO and SUNPROMO are two different codes. When I type in SUNPROMO the price is a LOT higher. Especially after taxes/etc are calculated. I think that SUNPRO also includes things like concession fees/etc which brings the cost down even more. I would classify it as one of those "hinky" codes that are not meant to be used by the general public so one should use SUNPRO at your own risk and within your own moral guidelines.

Dan, you should come over to our December Car Rental thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2231289

Some people are getting good rates for early December. My best rate that I found for later in Decmber is still from Avis using code K199060 and coupon muwa003 or muwa046 for $35 off your rate when you pay (it doesn't show right away on your reservation). That will give you an Intermediate for about $190 including everything.

forgot to mention that sunpro also includes

'return fuel at any level $2.40'

which is stated as a charge/line item in quote of $31.40

so i guess ur prepaying for a tank of gas whether u use the full tank or not & could go up or down based upon current fuel prices, the link from the quote indicates this:

Upfront Fuel

With the Upfront Fuel Option, you prepay for a full tank of gas based upon an estimate of current prices and the average tank size for the car class reserved. This charge may change upon time of rental due to current fuel prices. No refund will be given for unused fuel. When the Upfront Fuel option is chosen, no additional fuel fees are charged to your rental upon returning the car.

Whe I was playing with it last night it did give me a really good rate, but it did say that you may need to provide proof of this offer...So I don't know how I would do that- I don't have any proof. I don['t want to get excited about a great deal and then get there and not be able to get it, I don't think that I would get the car from MCO but from CCC, but if I don't have the "offer" and they don't let me rent a this deal I won't get the car and there goes a good part of my day from going from POP to CCC to who knows where.

You are only prompted to show proof if you add a coupon if you add the ID sunpro alone you are not. That being said use at your own risk....what really upsets me is that 8 passenger mini van is available with this code however, one is not avavailable if you wish to pay full price?????

I just want an 8 pax van I can care less about the insurance since i use my Amex for that....

I'll never figure out the logic to these rental agency....:confused3
