Good age for first DL visit?

Thank you all for the answers! Can I just say that I love all of you guys :) I am new here, and I had never known about this community. I love the passion you all have for Disneyland. It's great to know that so many of you are as obsessive about it as I am. You can look forward to seeing many more posts from me in the future.

Once I finally take my son on his first Disneyland adventure, I will be sure to include you all by posting pics and thanking you for your advice. Have a great day and thanks for all of your replies.

My daughter's first trip was when she was 18 months. She loved it! Does she remember everything from that first year? Probably not but we certainly have precious memories that will last us forever. We have been every year since and her love for DL has kept building from that very first trip. She is now almost 8 and hardly a day goes by without some reference to DL.

A couple years later we took my grandson for his first trip when he was 16 months. He loved it too. He was SO funny! When he got on a ride vehicle he would put a death grip on the lap bar. When EVERY ride stopped he would begin bouncing up and down and cry a little because he wanted to keep going. Of course, he only cried about 2 seconds... no real tears involved.

Both of them were so precious and so good. The look on their faces were priceless because they were so amazed with everything. They loved all the characters and all the rides.

Best piece of advice... be sure to keep to their normal routine (naps, eating time, etc.) as much as possible to avoid any melt downs. You probably might still have one but it is amazing what even just a good nap will do!

We're planning on taking our 2 daughters on their first trip in December. Our oldest will be 5 and our youngest will be 7 months. The youngest is still nice and snug in my DW's tummy :) She'll be gracing us with her presence the middle of May.

My dd was 2 last year on our first trip. She enjoyed it very much. My ds was 4 and loved it as well. I thought it was a great age for both!

i think i was 3 months old the first time i went to DL... hehe i don't really remember that trip though

I took my oldest daughter when she was 4---she loved it. She knew exactly what she wanted to do---and now she's "helping" to plan our next trip. This time we are taking her little sister just before her 3rd birthday. She is very excited about the trip---we look at the Disneyland site on-line and she knows which rides look too scary and she knows she wants to meet Mickey Mouse. :lovestruc

She may not remember much of this trip, but I'll bet she'll have a great time.

I think it depends on your kid. Our daughter was immersed in Disney from birth, so she was aware of the princesses and some of the characters before we went. When we got there, she was overwhelmed by it all, in a good way. She even has particular memories that she recalls from that first trip and that was a year and a half ago.

We went again, this past December and she was just 3 and had a total blast. We just paced ourselves. Don't push her to go to fast. It also helped to have a stroller that reclined all the way so she could lie down and sleep whenever she wanted.

But she still asks me at least once a week, when we are going back to Disneyland.

Another Disney fan for life has been created!!!!!!

Disney people are awesome people and I've been around the internet with Disney stuff since my daughter was born and by far, this is the best site I've found yet, so I agree with you! People here are awesome!

Have fun and get those reservations made!!!

All of my kids have been going since before they were born:yay:

My youngest started going at 3 months, my oldest started going at 15 months.
