Golf

We are taking a trip at the end of October with my in-laws. I was just wondering which golf course to reserve a tee time for my DH and FIL? They both shoot about 100, are good at driving the ball but not necessarily at putting , and are just looking to have fun and enjoy a Disney golf course.

Where do you like to go and why? What do you suggest? They'll probably have to go in the afternoon just because of our park schedule.

When we went 2 years ago my DH played the Palm course, Osprey Ridge and one other one (I forget which one). But, I know the PGA Funai Classic is usually played sometime at the end of October, which might be a good thing if your DH and FIL love golf and would love to watch the pros live in action! My DH was so anxious and excited to play these courses that he made early morning tee times and he left the resort so early that he arrived at the course like 45 minutes before they even opened (it was still dark out!). The CM there laughed that he was so early and then gave him a ride in the Mickey golf cart to hole #18 and let my DH place the pin wherever he wanted to and gave him a Magical Moments certificate! My DH loved it!!

The Funai is Oct. 16th-22, so you won't be able to play on the Palm or Magnolia courses that week and you will have to buy tickets to watch. My DBF has played all of the courses but is partial to Magnolia, he plays at least three rounds while we are there.

Just to let you know, when we went on our honeymoon in 2002, we went on a plan that included unlimited golf. Well, DH and I are both very amateur golfers (110+) but we love to play. When we made our tee times (for 2) we were suprised to find out (when we got to the course) that they send everyone out in foursomes. Each of the three rounds we played, we were booked with another twosome. I didn't particularly care for this because our golf was included and these people were paying (a lot!) and were forced to play with a couple of hackers like us. I felt bad that the better golfers had to deal with us. It was not very relaxing but it's hard to have a bad time golfing This practice might have changed by now, but your DH might want to check into it if they are not comfortable golfing with total strangers. I'd suggest Lake Buena Vista for somebody shooting 100. It's a fantastic course, but set out in a very straight forward way, no visual tricks designed to catch you out. Having played Osprey Ridge and LBV, I prefer LBV, and it is also a cheaper green fee.

They do still pair you up if others have booked the same tee time. If they play at a non peak time they may be able to play alone.
